She's going to be 65. She's pretty trendy. She's having a tough time health wise. I have a budget of about £25 as there's a fancy present to be bought later in the year.

She likes jewellery, make up, perfume, clothes, plants and going out.

I'm trying to find something a bit quirky but not too OTT. For example I love Tatty Devine and Sugar and Vice and Bête Noire jewellery but that would be too much for her, but she does like things that are a bit different.

I'd really like to find her a little treasure some sort because she's really down at the moment, but I am really struggling.

Please take pity on me this Friday.

What sort of perfume does she like?

You could get her a little bottle of Vivienne Westwood Boudoir. It's not a subtle, daytime smell- but it's an absolute classic.

Smells like a tart's bedroom funnily enough.

if you wanted to get chocolates then fairy tale gourmet is a lovely site for different treats and something a bit more special. Or what about taking her out for a meal or afternoon tea, there are normally good deals on groupon. Failing that how about a little hamper with some of her favourite treats, a manicure kit, face masks etc so she can pamper herself

Sorry if this sounds a bit cheesy but can you pay for the two of you to go out? Is there an experience the two of you can do together? Or take her shopping so she can find something she likes that you could treat her to (budget / health permitting).

She likes Marc Jacobs perfume, Saucy. Maybe I could sneak a peek at the current bottle and see how that's going..

The going out ideas are great, and that's what I normally do, but her health issue is currently causing her a lot of all over body pain (and is grinding her down so much I don't want to draw too much attention to it by suggesting something she'll have to refuse or grit her teeth to get through)...

Ooo.. am off to look at fairy tale gourmet now. Food's not a bad idea. I may do some sort of hamper..

A bay tree in a pretty pot?

ItsTricky · 15/05/2015 11:14

How about pottinh up a hanging basket or a tub with summer bedding plants.
