To cry at EVERY birth on OBEM?!

Writerwannabe83 · 14/05/2015 15:34

I can't be the only one surely? Grin

I have watched it for years and years and years and I still cry at every single birth in every episode Grin

My sister watches it too (she never cries) and thinks it's extremely odd that I get so emotional Blush

I refuse to believe I'm the only one Grin

I definitely tear up or well up emotionally because every birth is a miracle.

Charlotte3333 · 14/05/2015 15:39

Oh god no, I have to drink pints of water whilst watching or I end up dehydrated. Except at the screamers, I just shout at them on the screen because my Midwife Aunty always said to me if you've got enough energy to scream you're not putting all your energy into pushing. I never cry at anything in life; broke my leg in a skiing accident, had my dog PTS, no tears, one episode of OBEM and the floodgates were opened.

It's something to do with the beauty of new life; there is no bigger gift, and seeing the pain, the worry, the upset of the parents and then that stunning moment when the baby arrives, it's like a tiny celebration in the middle of something so arduous. I cry whenever I meet friend/family newborns, too. It's something incredible, watching a new life begin.

editthis · 14/05/2015 15:41

Oh yes, buckets.

squoosh · 14/05/2015 15:49

I never cry at this programme. Have never cried at a wedding either.

ARightOldPickle · 14/05/2015 15:59

Yep every time! At DGDs birth I was a complete soggy mess - watching a new life begin is absolutely magical.

And weddings too, I reckon I could go to the wedding of complete strangers and end up in tears Grin

Sallystyle · 14/05/2015 16:01

Isn't this series over now? if not I have some to catch up on.

I cry too.

CaptainAnkles · 14/05/2015 16:03

Yes, I cry too. I can't watch it if anyone else is home because they get all eye-rolly at me. I have to Sky+ it and watch the next day.

Dublinlass · 14/05/2015 16:38

I just fast forward to the births and then cry..

Ladymoods · 14/05/2015 16:41

I didn't even cry at the birth of my own children, let alone other people's. Have never cried at weddings either dead inside

farewellfigure · 14/05/2015 16:44

Another crier here. And I cry at John Lewis Christmas adverts. And the other day I was a howling mess watching that 'Inside number 9 12 days of Christine'. Oh that was messy. DH just looked at me like I was a crazy person.

Don't even get me started on Toy Story and The Princess and the Frog. HOOOWWWWL.

Norfolknway · 14/05/2015 17:08

Every time.

I can be watching the whole lead up not arsed. As soon as they start to push, I'm in floods.

Weird x

msgilbertblythe · 14/05/2015 18:23

I am NOT usually one for crying but this gets me everytime. Convinced it's the stirring emotive music they use.

MagelanicClouds · 14/05/2015 18:30

Every single time!
Had to stop watching it in the end, the emotional toll was too high!

RumbleMum · 14/05/2015 18:38

Yep, I cry too. That's why I don't watch it. Grin

Farewellfigure, you'd have to have a heart of stone not to have cried at The 12 Days of Christine. I sobbed for an hour and even DH cried too. It was the saddest thing ever.

YossarianLives · 14/05/2015 18:41

Even when I think I haven't made a "connection" with the woman giving birth and therefore won't be emotional when the baby arrives, when it actually happens the tears just start streaming! Confused

dailyfix · 14/05/2015 18:44

Oh yes. When I was a student nurse watching IRL I was a clubbing, snivelling mess in the corner.

dailyfix · 14/05/2015 18:44

Blubbing, not clubbing!

editthis · 14/05/2015 18:49

But then, I also once cried at The Boss Is Coming To Dinner, so I'm not sure I'm the control element of this test.

Royalsighness · 14/05/2015 18:51

I didn't even cry when my son was born, I just looked at him and thought WTF? But I was high on pethadine and he was my first.

But I cry at every OBEM birth now, every single one.

BalloonSlayer · 14/05/2015 18:52

Oh yes I do too. And not just OBEM, and programme with a birth in it.

Sometimes I think to myself "I can't bear this woman. She's so bloody annoying. I'm not gonna cry when she has her baby . . . wait . . . what's that? Oh the baby !!! Oh! Oh . . . . Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!" Blush

NotYouNaanBread · 14/05/2015 19:03

I always cry when I see childbirth on tv/video. More so since having children, I think. I'm not sure if it happened before?

Woobeedoo · 14/05/2015 19:27

I cry at the births but not for the women who scream their heads off in an exaggerated way. Oddly though I didn't shed a tear when my own DS was born.

CruCru · 14/05/2015 19:44

It's the bloody music, it's designed to set you off.

TTWK · 14/05/2015 19:51

Hells teeth, I hope you lot don't watch Long Lost Families, or it'll be like the Somerset Levels in your houses!

Ilikecakes · 14/05/2015 19:52

Every. Single. One. DH leaves the room when he sees it come on as he's a squeamish wimp he laughs too hard at the state I get into over complete strangers' births!
