I cannot for the life of me tell the difference!?!

www.johnlewis.com/store/somerset-by-alice-temperley-rosegrove-leather-grab-bag/p1694042?navAction=jump&colour=Moonlight

The colour is listed as 'moonlight' which insinuates that it's black, but in some of the photo's there is a definite brown tinge to it.

I loathe the colour brown.

First world problem, I know. But pleeeaase help me with this one.

I think black but as it's matt and not shiny it looks brown. In a couple of photos the straps look black but the bag brown. Sorry, no help Smile

SistersofPercy · 14/05/2015 16:37

Brown, but I preferred the navy anyway Grin

farewellfigure · 14/05/2015 16:42

It's black. Definitely black. All the people voting for brown are nutters. Have you ever thought that the colour of the sky at midnight is brown? No. Why would they call it midnight if it had any brown in it? It would be called Bourneville or Cocoa or something like that. Crazy people.

This is like the brown/blue, white/gold dress thing all over. Are you just trying to mess with our heads?

bilbodog · 14/05/2015 16:50

just ring up a John Lewis and ask them.

EponasWildDaughter · 14/05/2015 16:54

V dark brown.

Classy i think, I like it.

I wish companies would just label their products with a proper colour name. ''Moonlight' FFS Hmm

Icimoi · 14/05/2015 16:55

I think dark grey. If you look at the close-up, it looks black, but if you click on the navy version that actually looks a darker colour.

CheeseandPickledOnion · 14/05/2015 16:59

It's dark brown.

Shodan · 14/05/2015 17:20

I'd say it's the darkest blue you can get before it tips over into black. Which would go with the 'moonlight' description, I'd say.

Deffo not brown though.

Shodan · 14/05/2015 17:22

John Lewis has it categorised under black, I notice.

Icimoi · 14/05/2015 17:24

I agree with farewellfigure, there is no way they'd use the name Moonlight for a brown bag.

It's a natural black colour - looks the kind of colour that is very versatile and can be worn nicely with a black outfit and also is ok with a neutral outfit with Taupes or khakis. I find if I have a black bag it's wrong with these neutral type colours. I have lovely boots this colour and they go with black or earthy colours equally

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 14/05/2015 17:28

Dark mink sounds about right. Nice bag, apart from the chains on the strap. Much nicer without chains.

It's not black anyway, OP.

pinkr · 14/05/2015 17:55

I can't see any brown at am

Miiaaoow · 14/05/2015 18:34

UPDATE! - I contacted them via the online chat thingymajig..

The lady I was talking to thought it looked brown. But she checked the system and it was listed under 'silver', so possibly a dark grey.

So she then phoned the shop floor, where that person couldn't decide on the colour either! They said it was more of a grey colour than a brown. Not a dark grey colour but more of medium grey/silver?!?! Confused

She then reiterated that it was definitely NOT brown.

It is definitely black! What's wrong with you people!

RobinHumphries · 14/05/2015 18:42

Is it possible that the shop assistant was looking at the putty coloured one?
In the spirit of the white/ black dress I see dark brown

EmmaWoodlouse · 14/05/2015 18:44

I think it's meant to be black, but the brownish sheen suggests it might fade to brown. I had a "black" bag from Mantaray that did the same thing, so I'd be a bit wary of this one.

Clawdy · 14/05/2015 20:57

Black! on every picture.

AliceLidl · 14/05/2015 21:03

It depends which way I angle my laptop screen.

Moonlight is a daft name for it.

Yellowbird54321 · 14/05/2015 22:30

Undoubtedly black!

Shop assistant must have been looking at putty version surely!

LadyCuntingtonThe3rd · 14/05/2015 22:39

White and gold. Grin
No, it's actually black or very dark grey.
