Job interview for School Admin assistant. Please help me get this job!

AIBU to be absolutely terrified? This will be my first job interview in 17 years. I really badly want it. I've done some research into the school's policies, safeguarding, bullying etc. I've also thought about things like confidentiality (I'm friendly with a lot of the mums). What else do you think is likely to come up? Are there any admin assistants out there who can tell me what their job entails? Are there any curve balls the interviewers might throw at me?

Came across this post researching for an Interview i have tomorrow. I hope your still enjoying your job at the school. Any great advice you could offer, ive noted most of the points on the thread and the safeguarding as i hadnt heard of that before. Thanks Jennifer

I work in school admin now but hadn’t before this job. I like it because it is varied and I see children grow and develop and for some of them who haven’t got the easiest of lives it is amazing.

Re the job I come into work expecting to do x,y and z and instead something else has come up and I need to do that. You will be constantly interrupted and you need to be able to drop things to do something else and then pick it up where you left off.

Safeguarding is hugely important. We expect applicants to be aware of it and be able to give us the key points. Tell the safeguarding lead, you cannot say you won’t tell anyone, listen without any judgement. If you need to find an online course as it will give you the basics and mention the safeguarding policy.

Mention systems that you have used and how quickly you picked them up. Strong interpersonal skills a must.

I have an interview for a Primary School Finance Assistant this week and it will be my first interview for over 13years. I have not worked in a school before and just wondered whether there are any primary school admin/finance assistants on here that could help with suggestions as to what kinds of things will be in my 45 min admin & finance test prior to my interview! I am stressing out so much 😧

I didn't get the job.
I completely messed up the tasks required! The actual interview itself went very well but it was the Excel tasks that let me down. Whilst I can use excel and have limited formula knowledge, the tests were complex and required someone with extensive Excel experience which I dont have.
