Ok I am partial to the odd sugary drink etc but someone just shared this with me

It's by coca cola and I just think the link between babies and a sugary drink is just wrong. I have seen mums giving their toddlers coke whilst sat in their buggies and it just makes me sad to see - I think the connection is to close.

Am I just being precious - they say its all about smiles but I just felt a bit sad -diabetes, obese kids ... its the only thing which sprang to mind.

is there no regulation in videos online

I thought the video was going to be showing babies or toddlers drinking coke. I think you are over thinking this.

Quitelikely · 13/05/2015 09:57

I've never seen anyone give coke to a baby. If in a restaurant I do give my son the empty coke can to drink from. To keep him quiet more than anything.

WorraLiberty · 13/05/2015 10:02

Sad and angry?

Really?

I think that video was made especially for you OP, since it seems you've forgotten how to smile Grin

It's made my day. The catch tune and the kids laughing their heads off.

I genuinely thought I was going to see a bunch of babies and toddlers, necking pints of coke after reading your OP!

WorraLiberty · 13/05/2015 10:02

*catchy tune

Andcake · 13/05/2015 10:08

maybe round my way I've seen to many toddlers in buggies holding bottles of soft drinks ;-(

wigglesrock · 13/05/2015 10:12

Yes, you're being very precious - I'm usually a bit meh about other people's babies laughing on ads but the dog and the bubbles made me laugh out loud. Tbh I was expecting babies dipping dummies into coke, swigging tins or at the very least eating a coke float.

WorraLiberty · 13/05/2015 10:17

I've seen toddlers with fizzy drinks too.

I still don't see what the problem is with this lovely advert, that's simply reminding people to smile.

Ironically Grin

AuntyMag10 · 13/05/2015 10:19

Goodness you need to take a step back op and not overthink this. I have yet to see a child in buggy drinking coke and if I did it wouldn't bother me.

Hoppinggreen · 13/05/2015 10:20

Didn't make me sad or angry - we should smile and laugh out loud more as adults, many f us seem to have forgotten how.

Stinkersmum · 13/05/2015 10:23

Confused Seriously OP?

LadyDeadpool · 13/05/2015 10:33

YABU I think it was lovely and really didn't seem to be encouraging anyone to drink coke.

NRomanoff · 13/05/2015 10:34

Why sad and angry? Because you think more people will give their kids coke to drink? Even though no kids on the advert are drinking coke? And the advert is about adults remembering to smile?

Yabu.

SoupDragon · 13/05/2015 10:37

I can see where the OP is coming from.

It would have been better had they finished it with adults laughing and smiling and drinking coke

EnchanciaAnthem · 13/05/2015 10:38

Please be aware when you say 'diabetes', that generally children who have diabetes have Type 1 which is a completely different thing. Nothing to do with diet and lifestyle, it's an autoimmune condition. My DD (6) has Type 1 Diabetes, has never had a fizzy drink in her life and was never given chocolate or sweets as a baby. Now - we have to give her sugary drinks and jelly babies to save her life if her blood sugars are low! I'm constantly having to put people straight who think that all diabetes is caused by drinking coke and eating crap!

MrsFrisbyMouse · 13/05/2015 10:41

Actually OP I'm with you. It's very very clever and subliminal advertising. From the ubiquitous red/white cola branding - and linking cokecola with happy times.

And I agree, if you set this against the backdrop of what is happening healthwise.

I agree that a cute video of babies laughing and reminding adults to smile is endearing - but you also need to remember it's advertising - and subliminally who and what the message is of the people who are trying to sell you something.

Esmum07 · 13/05/2015 10:42

Don't forget the kids you see with cola or sugary drinks had them before the advert was even produced...if you don't give your kids these types of drinks then a few happy kids on a video isn't going to make you rush out and buy a bottle. And if you do give them to the kids you'll carry on regardless.

I loved the wiggly boy in his high chair (completely missing the point of the thread...)

Koalafications · 13/05/2015 10:46

No, I'm sorry. I've tried to get myself worked up over this and I can't... Sad
