To think that doing the shopping includes putting it away.

DP was alone today, as DSD was at the childminders and we do not have her tonight, so offered to do the shopping. This was greatfully received as we were down to the smell of the onion for supper. We also decided to go and see a film so I went straight from work to cinema, DP meeting me there, and when we got back the lidle bags where in the hall right by the front door.

DP said that everything that needed to be put away was and the rest would be done tomorrow. I have been known to leave pasta and things in the bags downstairs in the kitchen before so I figure I can't complain about the hall as it isn't far/doesn't really matter. Then when getting loo roll out for DP I notice mince, after a quick check I find steak, sausages and fresh fish also. All in the bags which are right next to a radiator.

When I complain about this it turns out that everything that needed to be put away was only the frozen stuff and DP refused to put the rest away as 'too tired to do it know'. So I have to tromp down into the cold kitchen to put it all away, come back up two flights of stairs to a 'I'm sorry' and when I mention that there was raw fish and pork left out, the response is 'I said I was sorry'. Just has really pissed me off, thanks for reading, I think Wine may be required with bed.

Why did you stomp downstairs and do the other half of his job for him?

Just leave it there. And let him find the manky fish in the morning. Might teach him a lesson.

Cue you now having to do all the shopping forever as he whines that he can't 'do anything right/said I was sorry' bollocks.

The hall radiator has a broken twistty thingy and the heating comes on before I get up for work so that I can have a warm shower and towel. So atleast it hadn't been on before I noticed the stuff and bunged

Is he an idiot? Does he genuinely not know that meat and fish need refrigerating?

And why did you do it? Why not just say 'NO, there's meat and fish; they need fridging and I'm not doing it you twunt'?

AtArPo · 13/05/2015 09:18

Gah bloody phone.

Bunged stuff in the fridge. To be fair DP does a lot, they are at home at the moment and do the lions share
of the housework while I work. The shopping is one of mine which is why it was nice that DP offered. The whole reaction to the thing is what annoys me the most, just felt like my opinion didn't mater

Why would the radiator come on when you want hot water? Do all the rads come on?

FanFuckingTastic · 13/05/2015 09:45

I keep my heating on, personal choice, I have a condition that flares with cold, so until it's too hot, heating comes on under a certain temperature.

Sounds like the radiator in question is broken and can't be switched off.

Putting the shopping away is the worst part of grocery shopping. I would be very put out if someone offered to do the shopping and left me to put it away. In saying that it never happens to me. No one ever offers to go shopping. I do all the grocery shopping, and putting away in this house. Poor me.

Harverina · 13/05/2015 10:06

Yanbu.

If you do the shopping you put it away.

It is the worst part of shopping though. I dread bringing the bags in!

AtArPo · 13/05/2015 14:20

Just to clarify yes the radiator is broken, the twirly thing won't twirl do it comes when the boiler does for a couple of hours in the morning. So it hadn't been on when I put the food away at midnight when I noticed it, would have been on if left till morning for DP to put away.

With a slightly cooler head what is actually bothering me I DPs refusal and going back to bed despite me explaining that it mattered to me. That and then ignoring me as I offered to help. Actually I am still fuming about that.

Wow, I am massively unreasonable then! In our house, the one who's had to slog through doing the shopping sits down with a cup of tea while the one who hasn't puts it away!

But leaving meat out of the fridge is not on.

Mrsjayy · 13/05/2015 14:33

Yy thats what we do im obviously doing a half job he was an idiot to leave meat out though thats just stupid and lazy

Harverina · 13/05/2015 14:34

Silver if one of us does the shopping then we both muck in to empty the bags if we are home.

If I came home and dh wasn't in, I wouldn't leave stuff for him to unpack later!

Allwayslookingforanswers · 13/05/2015 14:34

DH goes shoppping and doesn't put away, drives me insane..... Next time he leaves some money in his trousers/jeans take it as a tip and buy nice things with it, I do this and it helps me not to feel resentful.....
