To think Farage should keep his promise?

Apparently he has graciously agreed to withdraw his resignation having conveniently been pressed to do so by the party. UKIP are maintaining he kept his promise to resign so that's fine. Farage is on record as saying the leader of the party should be a sitting MP. So what happened to that?

It seems to me that the whole thing has been an absolute farce. It seems fairly obvious that he never really thought he would have to resign and this has been cobbled together to try to come up with some sort of face saving means of avoiding it. If he truly wanted to resign and meant it, then it really wouldn't matter that UKIP allegedly refused to accept it: he couldn't be forced to carry on against his will. It follows therefore that the reality is that this is what he wanted.

None of it is in the least surprising, of course. I would hope that UKIP's followers will see through it, though I suspect that most won't.

I think he's done an amazing job getting his party to the third in the UK.
Has any other party ever done this before, in such a way?

I'm not a supporter as I don't agree what they stand for, but tbh they are no less worthy than any other government.
It's a matter of taste and what you believe in.
he is certainly going to be a force to be reckoned with in the future, along with his party.

Dissent in the UKIP ranks. Interesting.

DoraGora · 14/05/2015 17:08

I suppose it's another way to keep everyone talking about ukip.

I think it's risible to have all this publicity over dissent at UKIP. When Labour people were falling over each other sticking the knives in when the crosses were hardly dry on the ballot papers. I think Nigel Farage has done an amazing job, people in his party liked him and he's increased their vote massively.

Of course it's going to make the news when UKIP donors and key figures are suggesting Nige should step down. He is UKIP for so many people.

Oh my, this is hilarious - in a WTF sort of way: www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/may/16/ukip-spy-who-infiltrated-protest-group-tried-to-encourage-abuse-of-farage

UKIP close protection officer joined Stand Up to UKIP group, and tried to incite them to deface UKIP posters and heckle at meetings.

Lots of votes in playing the victim, eh Nige?

He's the poo that won't flush.
