AIBU when making a sandwich to spread a filling on both sides?

After seeing the bacon AIBU I got into a discussion and I'm being accused of being over zealous because say if you have Nutella or Jam I spread both sides of the sandwich but the other person says everyone else only spreads one side?

Is it just me who thought the op meant putting jam on both sides of one piece of bread? Because thats just odd. And sticky.

I put peanut butter on both slices of bread but jam on one. Gets a bit sickly otherwise.
