DS thinks I ABU about St George's Day.....whose side are you on?

Scout St George's Day Parade today (owing to bizarre double booking incident with the Church) I am making DS go because you can't only do the bits you like, he's got a lot out of Scouts over the years, he's one of the oldest and its up to him to set an example. And it's the last one he'll ever have to do. His argument - he has already done 9, and he doesn't want to walk through town in a funny hat and probably get his picture in the paper (it's a very quiet town) wearing a funny hat. And he has homework to do. (This last is the single most unconvincing excuse I have ever heard. Bar none. So I am discounting it) WWMnD?

Not in the church though as we have doggies with us, golden cocker spaniel and a Welsh springer spaniel - just in case you get a chance to say Hi!

Is he a shaggy golden spaniel? And were you in the car park at the beginning? If so, my ds patted your dogs!

Ha, yes, shaggy and super cute but so naughty :-)

We were in the car park near the sea scouts but hadn't realised your Ds was a sea scout at that point - the explorers were just behind them :-)

Did he enjoy it in the end?

He tolerated it I think is the best that can be said- I told him to stop complaining- this was my 13th St George's Day Parade! Unfortunately his worst fears were realised when a group of lads from his school saw him- he's not looking forward to tomorrow. Oh well, it's all good character forming stuff.
