For me its like second hand underwear.
For him its like a second hand car.
I wear a lot of vintage but for some reason baulk at shoes.
Am I an awful snob?

I'm happy to buy second-hand shoes - as long as they are in very good condition. I've sold a few pairs of mine too on eBay (fairly expensive and now realise too high/too small since pregnancy and barely worn) too.

I wouldn't quite equate to buy second hand underwear but that's you're viewpoint so whatev.

I buy most of my shoes from ebay. Just this week I bought a pair of M&S shoes for 18.50 that were 50.00 instore. Hardly been worn in great condition.

I have, but only when they have been very lightly worn, I wouldn't want any that had been really broken in by someone else. It didn't bother me at all, it's only feet.

I'd buy party shoes second-hand as I figure neither me nor the previous owner would have worn them enough to matter.

Wouldn't buy second hand for the kids. It's not good for developing feet.

I've always preferred second-hand shoes as I like good shoes but my income has never sufficient to buy them new.

I have sold quite a few pairs of hardly worn shoes on ebay including Chie Mihara ones that were just sitting on my shoe rack.

Oooh, I didn't even think of selling shoes on eBay! Am getting a little addicted to eBay as we have tons of stuff to get rid of and need the ££.

(It is "mould", and as a pp said, "mold" is the American English spelling.)

I buy 2nd hand shoes for the dc. Ds2's sandals broke a while ago, it was just coincidence that when we walked past our nearby charity shop, they had a pair in exactly his size.

I'll always try and buy 2nd hand for the dc over new, my reason is they just don't wear shoes enough. They mostly go barefoot so when I do buy shoes, they only wear them 3/4 x before their feet have grown again. I just can't see any reason to spend so much money on new shoes for them when they'd rather go barefoot 90% of the time.

My best and most favourite pair of shoes ever where 2nd hand leather cowboy boots from eBay.

The leather had already been softened and they were the most comfortable shoes ever (until the heel fell off 3 years later)

I've bought second hand shoes on eBay. I got a fabulous pair of bright pink Boden heels for a fiver recently. Amazing bargain and looked barely worn.

I've sold stacks of shoes too: my feet grew when I was pregnant and didn't shrink back so I had to get rid of all my pre-baby footwear via eBay. People snapped them up.

Most of my shoes and clothes are second hand, mainly from eBay, just because I get a thrill out of spending a fraction of what I might on stuff that's bearly used. And it means I get more for my moneySmile But I always buy walking boots new.

I get what you're saying about the hygeine factor but just because they are second hand doesn't mean grotty. Anyway, there was a documentary on recently which said the athletes foot fungus is often on us already, quite normally, so I'm not bothered by the possibility of it beig on a worn once pair of shoes.

leedy & wizard Chie Mihara shoes are often in sale on Toast.co.uk as well as eBay bargains.

It's not a gals economy honest- I have boots by her from from 8 years ago still get comments and still looking great- while I've worn and thrown out maybe ten other pairs since
