The poor thing came charging like a bat out of hell around the house this morning trying to get away from a plastic bag that was chasing her.

Unfortunately the plastic - turned - predator was attached to her.

Neither me nor the dogs (who thought it a fabulous new game) could catch her and she disappeared over the fence. I found the bag later but no cat.

Been really worried because she's a bit of a home body.

Well I found her 3 hours later on the other side of the fence (had to stand on a chair to see her). She's wedged herself under a bush into a ditch and is refusing to come out. She looks pretty relaxed though and is talking to me.

She is either hugely traumatised at the bag coming to life or veeeeery embarrassed that it all took place in front of the servants

It could take the cat years and years to deal all of this, you can begin the healing process by bringing her a plate of fresh salmon and a small velvet cushion to perch on, and a small crown made of anchovies for her to wear as a remember she's the esteemed ruler of your home. And serve her on bended knee, too.

She will be mortified that this happened in front of the servants!

Just give her time, don't push her to go near another bag before she's ready. Have a talk with the dogs before she comes back, make sure they understand it could have happened to any one of you!

I've managed to entice her to a place where I know she can get out of, so hopefully she'll get over the embarrassment and come out soon.

The dogs are still falling about laughing and I'm not sure they'll ever let her forget it.

And her brother has not lifted a finger to help, I suspect he wanted to take her place as head of the household. I'm rather looking at him in a different light now.
