Mine's "princess". I'm a rabid feminist Hmm

Mummyofonesofar · 08/05/2015 16:00

I am called babe by my Dad and was called gorgeous by FIL before he died. I call DS and DP the same pet names - babe, honey, sweetie - they are just names I call people I love.

Songofsixpence · 08/05/2015 16:03

It's just a term of endearment to us. Like poppet, darling, sweetheart.

I sometimes call our DDs babe, DH sometimes calls our DDs babe. Nothing odd about it.

Nothing sinister, odd or inappropriate about it Confused

MrsTedCrilly · 08/05/2015 16:10

Awww I love that!

SurlyCue · 08/05/2015 16:14

Umm, babe literally means an infant child. How on earth would that be inappropriate for a parent to call their child? Confused

Yarp · 08/05/2015 16:15

My mum and dad called me Babe

We were from Essex (but not in a TOWIE way)

Yarp · 08/05/2015 16:16

My boys are Handsome or My Lovely

Yarp · 08/05/2015 16:19

And embarrassingly. One of them is Baby Boy, and one is Big Boy. They are 12 and 14. DH calls them this too

Madamecastafiore · 08/05/2015 16:20

My aunt calls my 6'4" inch cousin babe and completely freaked when his new girlfriend did. Was hilarious. Nothing wrong with it IMO!

morethanpotatoprints · 08/05/2015 16:23

I don't use the term as wouldn't want to offend anyone, as it could sound like you think they're a pig.

I know lots of people who use the expression instead of the dreaded hun.
Both men and women to a variety of family members and friends.

FeckityFeck · 08/05/2015 17:06

You remind me of the babe.

LadyDeadpool · 08/05/2015 17:23

What babe? [Grin]

Fierceflora · 08/05/2015 17:26

Oh Lordy I call everyone babe. Inc my 3 df. Though it does make me feel a bit towie, can't seem to help it though it just slips out!

Fierceflora · 08/05/2015 17:26

Fgs. DC not df

VelvetRose · 08/05/2015 17:30

I use babe all the time for dd, my dw, my friends!

Humansatnav · 08/05/2015 17:33

I to this day am Babs ( short for babby ) to my dad. I am 42.
Your op is ridiculous and snide.

ScrambedEggAndToast · 08/05/2015 22:49

My 12 year old DS and I call each other babe all the time Grin

FannyPlant · 08/05/2015 22:55

I call my DD babe.

KittiesInsane · 08/05/2015 22:58

Um.
Over the course of one evening I realise I've called my lot Petal, Cherub, Boyo, Allybobs, Tiddles and Honeybun.

They are all bigger than me, and I think maybe I need to get a life, a grip or a clutch of kittens.
