To find Shop Assistant's 'Oh, I know your address now, maybe I'll come round for dinner later' a bit disconcerting?

Shopping earlier in Holland & Barrett, got to the point of paying and Shop Assistant asked the usual 'do you have a rewards card' - I do, so it was duly scanned - at which point he read over the till screen then looked to me and said 'Oh, I know your address now, maybe I'll come round for dinner later'

It seemed such a random comment (although I was buying food stuff so maybe that's where it stemmed from?), I was quite taken aback tbh. It is possible I am a little over-sensitive about personal details due to past experience with mildly stalker-ish behaviour. AIBU to have found this comment a little creepy? And to wonder if it is usual for shop floor staff to have access to this kind of information at the point of sale?

I'm quite shy, I don't like small talk and would of found this creepy too. I also hate it when they assume I'm going out drinking at the weekend just because I'm quite young (pregnant with my 3rd child, full time job, not been out drinking in about 2 years) I AM bu with that I know but I wish they would just avoid saying anything personal!

YANBU in my eyes, nothing wrong with shop assistants being friendly and polite but there is no need to go overboard with it.

I'm an ex H and B employee. They have got new tills since I left but when I was there the only thing we saw when we scanned the cards were the card number which quickly flashed up. We could find out addresses by searching on the system under customers name but we only did that if people had forgotten their cards but still wanted points.

They are an awful company to work for - all stick and no carrot and the shops are woefully understaffed. However YANBU to be disconcerted by what the assistant said as I would never have said that a customer in a million years.

Threads like this really bother me because in my job I spend 20 - 30 mins one-to-one with people and have to make conversation and polite chit chat, it's part of my job. Until joining Mumsnet I didn't realise people got so upset/worked up about throw away comments and i am not talking about creepy or offensive ones , more just the passing the time of day ones.
Sometimes , especially towards the end of the day I am on automatic pilot and not really concentrating on what I'm chatting about but it is never anything deep and meaningful
