To ask who Millie is?

Bit of background as to not drop feed:

Dsis and I live next door to one another, we share a garden (we removed the fences) we have 5 dc between us who play together everday, go to school together etc. they all range in age from 1 1/2 to 4.

A few days ago dc3 came to us screaming and crying, genuinely scared saying her ear was talking and to make it stop. We tried comforting and she wasn't calming down, we thought she had a ringing in her ears or something then our of exhasbertion we said "what's your ear saying" and in the creepiest voice said "hello my name is Millie".

It was weird but this dc is very quirky and says weird things sometimes so we just cuddled till she calmed down and then she was fine. Fast forward a few days and ds4 was whispering something turns out he's whispering "hello I'm Millie" in a weird smokers kind of voice, I asked him where he has heard this and he wouldn't answer me just laughing so I asked him not to say it, thinking he might of said it to dd3.

Well odd things have been happening anyway like things going missing and reappearing in odd places, flashes of lights, toys going off on their own and I've largely ignored it but now I'm thinking something else might be a bit wooo.

Dd4 then says to the other dc " I'm having a premonition and the fire is spreading" we asked her where she heard it and she said she saw the Fire and all the horses died.

We're creeped out, haven't asked anything else just asked she not say things like that to the others as to not scare them but wtf is going on?

I want to ask who Millie is but i don't want to promote this creepy phase iyswim. Also our houses are only 30 yrs old and there was no fire.

Aibu to think this is wooo or is it kids being silly?

Sure...

Lesausage · 06/05/2015 09:02

It's really true. I'm not a bridge dweller Confused

It's weird and dd4 shouldn't even know what promotion means but she bloody well said it.

Your youngest child used the word "premonition". I would get her tested for Mensa immediately!

NorbertDentressangle · 06/05/2015 09:02

General question ..... How long have you lived there?

Woo question ...... Do you know what was on that land before the houses?

Sensible, logical question ....... What have the children been watching on TV recently?

BigFatPanda · 06/05/2015 09:03

I would ask. They may have got it from tv. Does sound creepy though!

dominogocatgo · 06/05/2015 09:04

Premonition is a big word for a child under 5 to be using.

dominogocatgo · 06/05/2015 09:05

Was your house built on an old Native American burial site ?

Lesausage · 06/05/2015 09:06

We don't have tv, we never watch it. They have iPads but don't have access to Internet etc only apps we put on.

queenbean it wasn't a steal boast, she actually said it and we were shocked Confused

afaik nothing was on this land it's a very small market town and it would of been fields.

They are teasing you

iLoveFlop · 06/05/2015 09:07

Perhaps someone at school has told the eldest about the new Enfield Haunting programme. IIRC, that was a 'ghost' called Bill, who had a smoker's voice, very gruff and creepy.

Lesausage · 06/05/2015 09:10

I've just asked dd4 and asked her where she heard premonition and she has said she heard it in her ears Hmm I asked her what does it mean and said says she doesn't know!

I think OP has misunderstood the MN convention and is using "dd4" to mean 4 yo DD rather than 4th born dd.

Beyond that I have no meaningful comment - although two of my kids have used "big words" at age 4 (not always knowing the meaning but having picked them up in context or as part of phrases - just using them by mimicking really. One used to say "for example" a lit at 3, in his second language too, and it quickly became obviously that his Kindergarten teacher over used the phrase when giving instructions, so he did too :o

I'm going with its a gane the oldest kids have come into contact with at school, probably an off shoot of something somebody has watched on TV or read in a book or overheard - games can start with older ones and be adopted by younger kids in the playground who don't know the "origin" of the game but just find it fun/ cool / follow the crowd.

It's why so many 3 yos with big brothers play endless star wars and ninja turtle games... Hmm

WorraLiberty · 06/05/2015 09:13

Sounds exactly like someone at school has told them about the Enfield Hauntings.

Lesausage · 06/05/2015 09:13

Yeah I mean their ages not the order of birth.

Have you googled Millie and your home town to see if anything comes up?

TSSDNCOP · 06/05/2015 09:17

But wouldn't your next question be "how do you mean, heard it in yr ears? Is it something you heard at school/on your Ipad etc"

DS would say he heard something in his ears, because that's the place you hear things.

TSSDNCOP · 06/05/2015 09:18

BTW are you sure they can't access YouTube from their Ipad apps. DS can from Minecraft for example.

I believe you op. Ds1 used to tell about his other mummy and daddy a lot and described in detail his 'family'. Whem we moved house ds2 used to talk about the man in the corner of his room, he used yo tslk to him. Could be imagination, could be something else, probably will never know for sure. Just ignore previous nasty comments.

Lesausage · 06/05/2015 09:20

smoor yes I did and nothing comes up, even went on the towns history site and looked at old photos etc and the house etc wasn't here, nothing was. The website has a census for crimes etc in the area and nothing in there.

I just don't want to ask the kids more than I have because it's scaring the younger ones which the older ones think is funny Hmm

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 06/05/2015 09:22

"I heard it in my ears", is something my DC used to say when they didn't want to get someone else into trouble.

Have a word with the pre-school teacher.

It's very likely a child has been told off for scaring the other kids with this nonsense.

ComposHatComesBack · 06/05/2015 09:33

I think the odds of your kid being possessed by evil spirits are slim to non existent.

They are mucking around to Wind you up and it is working a treat.
