The Conservatives would like to completely privatise the NHS

The quote below is interesting because an increase from 4.3% to 6% of the NHS budget actually represents an increase of 40% percent in terms of the amount of money spent on private contractors.

A spokesperson for the Department of Health called the suggestion of greater privatization “nonsense.” “Use of the private sector in the NHS represents only 6 percent of the total NHS budget – an increase of just 1.7 percent since May 2010.”

This bollocks has been spouted by Labour every Election in the 40 years that I have been voting......Hmm.

Most GP's are private providers who have a contract to provide NHS services! That has been the case since 1948. I don't particularly agree with the way that GP services are provided. I think that providing services in that way has meant that they sit outside the health and social frameworks that provide seemless services and if they were employed directly would benefit many more people. An example is a intermediate care team of Physios, Social Workers, carers and OT's working in the community but who are still reliant on sending patient to either own GP or local hospital.

Did we not have a vote of confidence in the government not so long ago? It was called an election.

I appreciate you're a sore loser but the Tories are going nowhere Smile

I'd hate to see charges made but I can see that the current system is unsustainable. It not just the illnesses that are bankrupting the NHS but all the extras that people expect (entitled to) for free nowadays.

Boob jobs, gastric bands, tattoo removal, elective caesarian sections, even IVF .... it's just not what the NHS was set up to do.
