...I don't feel entirely happy sharing my own salary publicly?

modelviewculture.com/news/lets-talk-about-pay is the original article that kicked it off.

Feels rather hypocritical tbh. I hate the secrecy, but don't want to be the only one "breaking ranks" IYSWIM?

It's a good idea. I think when companies ban employees from discussing pay with each other, it's because they have something to hide. That's my experience anyway.

I have also noticed recently that fewer and fewer job adverts these days seem to state the salary.

We need a lot more transparency.

Okay, that's it. I'm uninstalling Dolphin web browser. It's pure shite.

Agree with both your points there, AA!

Is it actually legal in the UK to demand that employees don't discuss salary with each other?

I once had an employer who disciplined staff for discussing it nothing to do with the fact we then discovered an arsehole manager had been giving payrises to his three best drinking pals, oh no

I hope there was a sudden mass exodus of staff to better jobs!

Had a quick Google, apparently:

The Equality Act 2010 makes it unlawful to prevent employees from having discussions to establish if there are differences in pay. However, an employer can require their employees to keep pay rates confidential from people outside of the workplace.
