To want to know exactly what my children are being taught?

It was raining this morning when I asked ds1 to open the curtains. He looked out the window and informed me that Jesus was crying! He said his teacher told them that in class.

It's not likely is it? It's not a faith school and only really does the minimum to adhere to the act of daily worship. I've no objection to them being taught about religion but not in this way.

I'm really hoping he had got confused. Would I be unreasonable to go into school and ask about it?

I don't find offensive, because I don't believe in any gods. Doesn't mean I think it's ok to encourage my children to ridicule others beliefs. Children going around saying, "it's god farting" is just vomit-inducing. Or adults thinking it's the height of comedy come to that.

Kids do have a sense of humour and irreverent view of the world. Any fart or poo references sets them off.

Who said there are child going around saying it?

It's the premise of the thread. OP's child comes home and says, "teacher says rain is god crying" your child goes to school and tells the class, "my mum says thunder is god farting".

TalkinPeace · 03/05/2015 19:30

OP
Let it wash past. Most intelligent people grow out of religion. Your child will hopefully be the same.

Some people need to get over themselves.
Vomit inducing? You must lead a very sheltered life Vivacia.

sparkysparkysparky · 03/05/2015 19:30

Faith school here. If my dd was taught rubbish like rain is Jesus' tears there'd be an uproar from all parents.

Christinayangstwistedsister · 03/05/2015 19:31

Who said it was the height of comedy? And children saying it are vomit inducing ? Lovely

What do you have for hailstones?

ltk · 03/05/2015 19:34

I ridicule belief in gods amongst my own family, who agree. We are very nice and respectful to people outside the family about their beliefs. But I think we're entitled to ridicule whatever we like amongst ourselves. You should hear what we tell the dc about UKIP.

I was told the same as Eatshit and it didn't do me any harm. I also went o Sunday school. Some people get uptight too easily.

OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 19:36

I don't teach my DC to ridicule beliefs.

But he has a kid's sense of humour. And the idea of a God shitting on him and weeing on him from the clouds appeals to a 9 yr old's sense of humour. It's not very sophisticated.

AccidentalAnarchist · 03/05/2015 19:37

Oh god is Vivacia at it again? Hmm

The teacher IBU.

OwlinaTree · 03/05/2015 19:41

I'm imagining all this as a geography lesson.....Grin

OrlandoWoolf · 03/05/2015 19:47

Watching BBC4 now.

Apparently Moses might have crossed the Reed see. A tsunami sucked the water out and then came back drowning the Egyptian army.

Maybe....

youarekiddingme · 03/05/2015 19:58

I heard that one a few years back Orlando.

My friend and I once discussed how everything is the bible can be explained using 21st century knowledge, but it's like a 21 century celeb autobiography!

littleflick · 03/05/2015 20:03

Offensive?! What rubbish!

What we do say about religious people in private - they would find offensive.
