To wonder of temporary eyelid droop could be a brain tumour?

I had my right eyelid suddenly droop after an eye test.
Stupidly maybe I assumed it was some sort of muscle weakness caused by the eye test and didn't go to the doctor / hospital at the time.
It recovered completely after 2 days and now you wouldn't know it had ever happened.
But I've done some of my own research and a brain tumour seems linked to an eyelid droop if on the brain stem.
Surely this would be permanent though and not just for 2 days??
I have had headaches on and off for a while, nothing severe and just thought they were stress related as always just across the front of my head.
When my eyelid dropped my vision wasn't affected at all, my pupil was able to move in all directions etc.
anyone able to shed some light whether this could be a brain tumour?

I do wonder whether you need to seek advice about your anxiety rather than the specific eyelid droop.

Confusedmartie999 · 03/05/2015 12:19

So you wouldn't be concerned about this? That seems odd as something that's never happened before such as this I think would worry most people.

Click on the "I started" button. "I'm on" drops off after 3 days or however long you customised it for.

But I agree with pp. The anxiety sounds like a problem. Brain tumours are rare and not catching so the fact someone near you died of one doesn't mean anything.

Tholeonagain · 03/05/2015 12:22

It sounds like you have a degree of health anxiety as you are still very worried even after the symptoms have gone away & you have had reassurances from doctors. Google health anxiety instead of brain tumours! I

juliascurr · 03/05/2015 12:25

I had Bell's palsy which recovered spontaneously

hibbledibble · 03/05/2015 12:56

Op, I the nicest possible way: get off mumsnet and see a doctor regarding your anxiety!

  1. Most people on mumsnet are not doctors.

  2. Even if they say they are a doctor you have no way of knowing if that's true

  3. Even if they are really a doctor they cannot examine your or perform any investigations.

You have started one thread previously and seen a doctor and an optician. Starting another thread will not add anything.

Confusedmartie999 · 03/05/2015 13:05

Ok I didn't realise it was a crime to ask a question always thought people just wouldn't reply if they weren't interested.

Hi OP. There's an ongoing thread on health anxiety on the mental health board.

Coyoacan · 03/05/2015 17:52

Sorry about your worry, OP. As I don't like doctors very much if I have something like that and it goes away, I am perfectly happy. The human body is a strange thing and not everything can be explained.

I don't understand why you are being grumpy with the people answering you as, IMHO, they are being helpful and kind.

Silvercatowner · 03/05/2015 18:26

Of course it isn't a crime to ask a question - don't be absurd. Quite often you don't get the answer you want though.

Bluetrews25 · 03/05/2015 21:01

Agree with PP in that you need to seek help with anxiety.
You are in the awkward position of not being able to be reassured, the only way out of that is to stop asking for reassurance, as the reply never helps you.
CBT might help.

Yes I will.
He did a few tests looking in eyes movement checks etc but obviously no scans so nothing really conclusive.
As I said this news of a brain tumour is recent as I only just heard it and looked it up but it does say they can be linked.

Yeah he did do some tests which must have been fine.
But my eyelid ( other eye ) has been twitching now for the last few days which I have no idea if that's a problem or not

Eyelids twitch when you're tired - it's a harmless muscle spasm.

If it has resolved I wouldn't worry. Sounds fine. I am a GP and my husband died of a brain tumour and it would not have resolved but progressed. Please see your optician or GP again if worried and stop googling ????

Musicaltheatremum · 05/05/2015 22:17

Smile that was lots of smiley faces not square boxes in above posts

Confusedmartie999 · 06/05/2015 14:00

Thankyou for your reassurance.
I will book another opticians appt as I've had 3 in the last year, the first result was needed glasses for reading only, after they were making me dizzy I went back to be told I didn't need them at all ( this was the instance with the eyelid droop ) and then had another after the gp advised I go back and she said I needed glasses all the time!
So no idea what to believe at the moment
