to think, no this doesn't count as next day delivery?

I'm in the middle of decorating my DD's bedroom.

She used to have one of those high sleeper beds, but she hates it and I'm pissed off with changing it, so I ordered her a new bed, a chest of drawers, bedside cabinet and some twiddly bits (fairy lights, mirror, lamps, etc) from Amazon.

I ordered the stuff Saturday afternoon and as I'm clicking on items (all on Prime) I get a message "order in x hours and x minutes for delivery on 27th April".

I order, and as I go through the checkout I notice the delivery has now changed to the 28th. Not a problem, I wanted to do all the painting first anyway, and given it was Saturday when I was ordering didn't really expect it on Monday in the first place.

I check Amazon on Tuesday to see if there's any tracking information as to when the stuff would be delivered and find it is all still "preparing for despatch". Not impressed, but not a big deal, given that the items were on next day delivery, I assumed I'd get them Wednesday and I hadn't quite finished painting anyway

It's now Thursday and most of it is still showing as preparing for despatch. I've finished painting, DD is camping out in her sister's bedroom and I can't do anything until the bloody furniture arrives.

I've spoken to Amazon this morning and it will be dispatched tomorrow and I should get it Tuesday (I won't get it Saturday as Prime doesn't cover Saturday deliveries, and Monday is a Bank Holiday).

I pointed out that as a Prime customer I'm paying for a next day delivery service, but was told "well, it depends on despatch doesn't it? This will count as next day delivery due to the weekend and bank holiday"

AIBU to think they should refund some of my Prime subscription, extend it a bit, or despatch it today and swallow any extra charges to ensure it arrives tomorrow.

It fucks me off that they do that "order within x hours, x minutes for x date delivery" thing which always seems to have changed after you've gone through the check out, but this is beyond a joke and on what planet can 10 days from order to delivery be considered "next day"?

As I type I am also on live chat with Amazon to complain about exactly the same thing. They are terrible for it.

RolodexOfHate · 30/04/2015 10:26

I have always found Amazon very good for whenever delivery has exceeded the displayed time. Recently they refunded me £80 for exceeding the delivery time. This should apply in this case again. Try the webchat? I find it's better as it's slightly slower and the agent can look up everything without the pressure of you listening to them.

I'm on the webchat now. They are idiots.

Songofsixpence · 30/04/2015 10:35

This was live chat. They wouldn't speak to me on the phone as the account is set up in DH's name.

Whenever I've had issues with delivery before they've always extended Prime for a month. This time they refused to do anything about it.

I should have chased it earlier, and I'm kicking myself that I didn't, but it suited me that the delivery was delayed a bit as I could get everything finished without having to work round boxes and beds. Delivery today, or even tomorrow would have been fine, DD could move back in over the long weekend. But Tuesday!!!

I've got the transcript of the convo emailed to me, so I'm going back on.

That is bollocks re no weekend/bank holiday delivery. i have received stuff off amazon on a Sunday. I remember being both surprised and impressed.

Songofsixpence · 30/04/2015 10:40

I've had stuff delivered on Saturdays before too, and in the run up to Christmas, on Sunday.

What she's saying is, as it's being dispatched tomorrow, Saturday isn't included in next day. Next day is Monday, but Monday is bank holiday so it will be Tuesday.

Amazon appear to have changed their Prime service from one day delivery to two day lately and they certainly kept that quiet.

Songofsixpence · 30/04/2015 11:06

They seem to be a bit sneaky.

They still offer it as one day delivery.

I've just gone through to check out on the fairy lights I ordered to double check what it said and screen shot it and it says guaranteed delivery May 1. I haven't completed the order as I don't want another set of fairy lights, but when I ordered it on Saturday it said guaranteed 27th April, then by the time I'd gone through the check out it had become estimated the 28th April and it's now the 30th April and they're not even dispatched yet

to think, no this doesn't count as next day delivery?
