AIBU to not have a photo of grandparents in DCs rooms?

My mum was put out I didn't put some pics of her and granddad in my DCs rooms that she gave us. My DCs didn't really grow up with them as we lived in another country when they smaller and now they only see them every other month or so. I am not in a good relationship with my parents, my dad was an almost bi-polar type of alcoholic who drank on my birthday and that sort of thing when I was growing up. I view it as a kind of narcissist and creepy on my mum's part, that she thinks it's important the DCs have photo of GPs in their rooms. I guess I don't really feel IABU, but wondered if anyone else did this? I guess I don't want to see my parents that much and therefore don't want to see their faces at my DCs bedtime...

We don't have any photos up of the grandparents, apart from a funeral service booklet on the fridge from 5 years ago when my step dad died (I was 36 weeks pregnant with DD2). I don't like to take it down really but apart from that there are no other photos of family members - except our own DCs school/nursery photos - up in the house.

I remember my best friend's MIL (who really is dreadful - I used to work with her) went round to my friend's new flat - that her and her boyfriend (now husband) had just moved into. There was a photo of her boyfriend's dad up on the mantlepiece - his DEAD dad (who died when he was about 5 or 6). The MIL took great offence that there was no photo of HER and promptly burst into tears!!

My family are close but none of us have photos in the bedrooms. I've never heard of this.

We have a few pics downstairs, but that's it.

We've got a pair of multi -frames in the lounge, one for each side of the family which covers just about everyone. Ds1 has a couple of pictures of himself when he was younger in his room as they were spare prints.

Ds2 is sadly underrepresented as I've not got round to sorting another multi frame of more recent pictures. I have a reasonable chance of convincing him his brother is him... DH certainly wouldn't notice! Grin

YANBU. Photos should only be there to make you feel good.
