To have a moan...pricing in icecream Parlour

I took my kids to an ice cream parlour i good couple of months back ice creams all fine.. orded drinks on menu said they were 1.50 each. got to till and they charged 1.95 each. this was for coke. i complained about it. i questioned how can it be allowed to say 1.50 on menu but then you charge me 1.95 at till. they were really rude. but anyway said we could have j2o for 1.50. so i done that. They had not long been open so i thought maybe it was teething problems... me and my daughter went again a few days ago same thing happend again coke says 1.50 on menu but then they charge 1.95 at till.

You have to pay VAT if you eat in the cafe. That's normal. Did you eat in or takeaway?

But surely even if it is more to eat in, they should display both prices, and if you're looking at a menu rather than a board outside, you're more likely to be eating in.

You could be looking at a menu undecided.
It most likely is the vat charge for sitting inside to consume products.

Coke is always standard rated, so it cannot be a VAT difference.

we were eating in. and given the menu at the table. there was only one set of prices not an eat in and eat out one. surely if it was a vat thing it would have been on the other items as well not just the coke... i tried to google head office not sure if its right it had a phone number but tried it and it does not seem to exsisit

If it was VAT, that should be clear.

Also £1.50 plus 20% = £1.80

I've always seen clear labelling between take in and take out prices.
