-Not conservative because they have a callous and ill-informed attitude to people who are genuinely struggling.
-Not labour because I just can't see Ed Miliband as a PM.
Not Social Democrat because they are wishy washy.
Not UKIP because they divide and stigmatise groups of people.
Not the Greens because they are pie in the sky ..............................................................

Is there an NHA candidate in your constituency? Maybe an independent candidate you like?

frankie001 · 26/04/2015 19:28

I'm in the same. Very tempted to put 'none of the above' on mine

timelyreminder · 26/04/2015 19:54

Is there a party (or more than one) that you would most wish to avoid? Better to vote for the best of a bad bunch, than not voting at all and letting UKIP get a seat

ThisFenceIsComfy · 26/04/2015 19:57

Well what are your views on the NHS, education, housing, immigration, taxes, etc?

Try not to think of the leaders. It's not a personality contest. I would read each manifesto and go with what you think suits you best.

blue42 · 26/04/2015 19:57

What do you want, someone here to tell you who to vote for?

PeachyPants · 26/04/2015 20:01

They're not all the same though, could you work out your least worst option rather than feeling you have to be totally in favour of one party's policies before you can give them your vote? Or perhaps look at what the candidates are saying about local issues?

Merguez · 26/04/2015 20:03

Try this website:

Try this uk.isidewith.com/political-quiz

MissMuffetisin · 26/04/2015 20:05

I don't want any of the above either. But our sitting MP is excellent and has always replied when contacted. Find out more about the local candidates, they will be your representatives in government not the leaders - unless you have the misfortune to be in their constituency!

Thurlow · 26/04/2015 20:05

I think 'least worst' might be the best option.

I thought I'd decided too, looking at national policies. Labour have rarely done it for me and haven't won me over this time. I'm pro-Europe so am not keen on voting Tory. So decided it had to be Lib Dem by a process of elimination - the party that didn't have any policies that I thought "hell no" about.

But then I looked up our local LD candidate and I'm not keen on them!

Tactical voting might be appropriate in your constituency. Or try one of the very long online quizzes to see who it suggests for you?

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 26/04/2015 20:12

Im the same. Im considering looking at the flyers each person has had posted through my door and look to see which MP offers the most for me in my community.

catgirl1976 · 26/04/2015 20:14

I just did the isidewith with quiz I linked to and came out 89% labour and 84% green. I'm still undecided. It will be labour , lib dem or green but I can't decide which.

ChazzerChaser · 26/04/2015 20:15

I usually hate those online quiz things, and they never get me right, but that I side with one got me spot on!

OP of all your reasons for not voting for parties, your labour one is pretty flakey. The others have a political dimension, the labour one is just personality, based on a media representation. Just thought I'd point that out in case helpful

muminthecity · 26/04/2015 21:29

I was struggling to decide as well so I looked up everyone who was standing in my area and emailed all of them (except the Tory and UKIP ones, because I knew I'd never vote for them.) I asked questions about their plans for my area, and about the policies that were most important to me (education, housing, living wage and women's issues.) They all replied, the Green candidate was the most convincing, so I looked at their policies in a bit more depth and compared to Labour (my second choice) and the Greens won hands down, so they're getting my vote.

Shesparkles · 26/04/2015 21:31

I'm getting to the stage that my vote will go to whichever candidate Rams the least crap through my letterbox!

Pasithea · 26/04/2015 21:46

It's so difficult. I feel we should vote but I can't find anyone to vote for. I don't want hs2. I think we need to keep trident . I want to preserve green belt and our seas. Support our fishing and rural industries. Greens look ok but they are anti trident. Immigration needs sorting too but how I m not sure.

Topseyt · 26/04/2015 21:55

Same here. I will have to simply decide on the "least worst" option.

I really sometimes wish that there was a box on each ballot paper saying "none of the above". Not sure what effect it would have though.

If there were still The Official Monster Raving Loony Party I would consider voting for them as a protest vote. I just can't work up any enthusiasm for any of the crop we currently have at all.

SorryToDisturbYou · 26/04/2015 22:23

Shesparkles as someone who's out delivering leaflets a lot, the last thing I want is to walk up your driveway unnecessarily piss you off; can I suggest you put a 'no political leaflets' sticker on your front door? If it is in large enough letters that it can be read without walking up your driveway, I'd be eternally grateful, too...

SorryToDisturbYou · 26/04/2015 22:26

phewididit I think you might be showing your age a bit, the last time I remember talk of the social democrats is when I was watching Spitting Image as a teenager, and I'm getting on a bit now!

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 26/04/2015 22:27

That quiz just said I identify with Lib dems by 81%. I'm most offended.

catgirl1976 · 26/04/2015 22:30

But..............if you agree with 81% of their policies (which you do - that's what it's asking you about) why are you offended?

SorryToDisturbYou · 26/04/2015 22:33

TZVN well, offended you may be, but you have to vote Lib Dem now. Did you not read the small print before you took the quiz? Wink

SorryToDisturbYou · 26/04/2015 22:35

To be fair, catgirl, you could agree with their policies but doubt their ability/willingness to implement said policies.

Mind you, that then leaves you voting for a party who are more committed to implementing policies which you agree with less. Hmm.

catgirl1976 · 26/04/2015 22:36

Yup. Tis the law.

Mind you, imagine if you did it and it said you were 84% UKIP

You'd have to get in the shower with some bleach and a brillo pad.

workhouse · 26/04/2015 22:36

I am hoping that someone can enlighten me because I can't find out the answer by googling.

Iv'e just done an online quiz on who to vote for as I am completely undecided, apart from UKIP and Greens which I can rule out.

After going through all the questions, quite a lot, on all aspects of policy etc. they showed you where you agreed and disagreed with all the parties.

Now it stated that I was opposite to the Tory party over the bringing back of the death penalty, which I answered no to. So does this mean that the Tories as a party are in favour of it, I thought that David Cameron was against.

Anyone know?
