to boycott pret as staff give free coffee to people they fancy and I've never had one

I go to pret almost daily, just heard that staff regularly give coffee to people they fancy or like as the CEO gave them that power.

I've never had a free coffee, probably because I'm not a beauty. Aibu to boycott them?

I really don't like the sound of that policy, no freebies due to my genes.

My two daughters were told they didn't have to pay for two gingerbread men. I thought the waitress was just being nice and lovely.

I used to get free KFC because the guy who worked there liked me. I miss being young and attractive and able to eat greasy junk food.

Mandatory, I used to get free cans of pop from the chippy because I went in there a lot Blush one time they gave me a freebie because I "looked cold". They were so nice!

Chippednailvarnish · 25/04/2015 12:52

I've had a free one, clearly because I am an undiscovered supermodel Grin

I often get free prawn crackers from my local Chinese Takeaway. It's because I'm a long standing regular customer, and an always polite and helpful.

SanctimoniousWitches · 25/04/2015 13:00

That's awful!!

nooyearnooname · 25/04/2015 13:04

I used to get them quite a lot at the Pet near where I used to work. I had coffee and a croissant from there every day, I got to know the staff a little bit, always asked how they were etc, you know just being friendly and polite. I think that was why I occasionally got a free coffee from them (and on one memorable occasion a free croissant too!). I'm not convinced anyone in there fancied me!

As a policy I think it works....It made me feel a bit 'special' on the free coffee days and therefore more likely to tell my colleagues how great the staff in that Pet were.

I find pret servers really hot or cold and know several people who have been really offended by one. I think the policy of giving free stuff to people you like seems to have made it ok to be rude to people you don't like.

Pret not Pet!

SanctimoniousWitches · 25/04/2015 13:06

as a customer you want to feel you are being rewarded for your loyalty. Not made feel bad about losing a contest you never entered!

whois · 25/04/2015 13:15

I've never had a free coffee at pret. Nor have I ever seen anyone during the frantic morning city rush get a free one.

AggressiveBunting · 25/04/2015 13:22

Ooh- I used to get quite a few free coffees from the one in the lanes by St Pauls when I worked round there. I was a lot younger and hotter then though. I have to pay these days!
