To think Best friends partner is being unfair?

My best friend and her Girlfriend have been having IVF and after the 4th try, friends DP is pregnant.

I managed to get friend an interview at my place of work and she did great resulting in her getting a job. She starts next week.

In beginning of June we are having an office party, nothing manic but It's a great opportunity for her to get to know everyone (she is very shy). Her partner has refused to "allow" her to go, saying that she can't drink so neither should her DP be able to.

In fact her DP is negative about everything to do with this pregnancy, you'd swear it happened by accident!

I just think Friends DP is being quite controlling, my friend NEVER goes out and now she will miss out on an opportunity to mix with other departments in work. Harrumph

YANBU to think it is unfair for the pregnant partner to insist that the non-regnant partner doesn't drink, especially when it's a special occasion (and I class "opportunity to get to know new colleagues" as a special occasion).

If non-pregnant partner chooses to not drink, that's fine.

If, as couple, they do fewer "drink-based activities", that makes sense (but pregnant partner wouldn't be coming to this anyway so that doesn't count).

YANBU, your friends dp is being very weird and controlling, I hope your friend is ok.

YANBU Odd and controlling. What does your friend think of this? Does friend's DP resent being the one having to be pregnant? Could she have anxiety and is she normally so unreasonable? Pregnancy hormones are bad enough but combined with hormones you've been taking from IVF, they can make some otherwise not unreasonable people act unreasonable.
