To ask for tests on my lungs?

I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Systemic Lupus Erythmatosis. I'm on some quite heavy duty medications to control both diseases.

Over recent months, I have started to have some concerns about my lung health. Both RA, SLE and the drugs I take can affect the lungs, so it's not completely irrational. I've had this reoccurring worry that my chest pain is not due to rib inflammation but due to an issue with my lungs. I'm aware that lung disease associated with my conditions can be silent for a while which is another worry. I also get a bit breathless but no cough.

I don't usually suffer with anxiety, certainly never related to my health. WIBU to ask my GP to refer me for some tests to rule out lung disease? I don't like to barge in and suggest things but I think it would ease my mind. I have private health insurance, so I have no issue in not being referred on the NHS.

I've been googling and it's probably likely that it's not my lungs but I want it ruled out.

Get it checkEd. Cardiac problems can present as breathlessness too

Have Lupus as well, the last few weeks had awful chest pain, running across and down right arm.

I have a SOS appointment with my Rheumy, called explained what was happening was called straight in.

For me it was just indigestion, bloody scary tho

I take heavy duty meds as well. Had to have my gastro one adjusted.

Rheumy said I had done the exact right thing.

It could have been my heart.

It's unusual for problems inside the lungs to cause pain but you are worried so go and see your GP.

If you say 'I have these symptoms and am worried it's something inside my lungs, may be related to my meds or RA or SLE' you will get a much better response from your GP than if you say 'I want to be referred for lung tests'
