bedroom wasps

I'm confused. is there a wasp nest in my bedroom?! Sad

woke up to a loud buzzzzzz. something behind my blinds bashing itself at the window. it eventually made its way to the glass at my bedroom door (goes to a small balcony) so I opened the door to let it out. it was a huge angry wasp. I briefly thought 'how did that get in my room' because the windows and doors have been shut. I've been away for 2 weeks and only got back yesterday.

BUT then I noticed on the floor by the door 2 dead dusty wasps. who I assume had been trying to get out the glass and had just given up and died on the floor beside it. while I was away.

so...how the fuck did they get in? surely if there was a nest somewhere in my room (typing this is making me shudder) I would hear it?!

Try your local council - I've had them in and although they charged, it was less than a private pest controll company. Admittedly this was a few years ago so that might have changed. It's also a lot easier to sort out at this time of year. Late summer - when the wasps get kicked out - is when it can really become a problem.

Can you tell I've had 3? Grin Good luck!

We have had this almost every year we have lived in this house (8 years) sleepy, dopey wasps appear in the bathroom from this time of year onwards, becoming increasingly active as the summer goes on, sometimes 6 or more a day.

When we go on holiday we often come home to post of dead ones. The highlight a couple of years ago was when the bathtaps ran dead wasp pieces for weeks Shock

We have had people out (council etc), they have never been able to find where they come from Hmm

I had loads of live ones too. I think they were coming from a gap in the bathroom wall but I never worked it out.

I moved out not long after, not really because of the wasps, but they didn't help.

I've had this too, fortunately we didn't have many, but they tended to act like moths and when we put the bathroom light on in the morning, in one would come (maybe through the light fittings). We only had one at a time. It lasted until December! And then they stopped and we didn't see any more of them. The following year my husband found two small empty nests in the loft.

I often see a Queen buzzing around this time of year, but hopefully she'll choose a different nesting place. Last year we had bees in the roof, but they didn't bother us, we only knew about them because a guy went up to clean our gutters etc.

I do agree it is maybe too early for a nest. Sounds like you had a queen though looking for where to make her nest so you are lucky she deemed you too inferior and wanted out! WinkGrin I saw one just in the nick of time this time last year just as I was about to open my woodburner door. Must have been well over an inch in length and fat as they come. Gross!! Maybe the other 2 are just a coincidence as the warm weather has had me see lots of wasps.

Would swap for mice anyday!! Love them. My cat brought one home and proceeded to menace it evily play with it in the kitchen. I cupped it in my hands and took it across the road to let it loose in the field.
