I bloody hate threads that end with 'Discuss!' ? its a bloody discussion forum, dont tell me to bloody well discuss, i'll do it if i want to

same with facebook comments on groups - always makes me cringe and not 'discussing' - I just see 'avoid' instead

I hate it too. Reminds me of being in school.

'The weather serves as a metaphor in Jane Eyre. Discuss.'

livsmommy · 22/04/2015 16:46

YANBU!

YY YANBU and those that say 'Hello Ladies'. 'Discuss' means 'have a bunfight so I can watch'.

It's really rude when they say 'Discuss' then barely return to the thread.

Trickydecision · 22/04/2015 16:51

I hate threads which start with "So" as well as those that order me to discuss.

Zucker · 22/04/2015 16:51

I just think journalist on a research mission for some crap article or book

scribblegirl · 22/04/2015 16:54

I thought your OP would end 'discuss!'. I am disappointed Sad

Sparklingbrook · 22/04/2015 16:57

How about this for an OP-

So Ladies AIBU to think David Cameron is gorgeous? Discuss!

Grin
lavendersun · 22/04/2015 16:57

My first boss after Uni would often write 'discuss' on things - he was severely lacking in interpersonal skills. It still makes me cringe 26 years later.

daisychain01 · 22/04/2015 16:59

I agree, it sounds so bossy.

I tend to stroll off whistling to myself, to a less imposing thread. I just like to be contrary and disobedient ...

lavendersun · 22/04/2015 17:00

Grin @daisychain01

NickiFury · 22/04/2015 17:00

I hate the ones that start "So" as though we were already in mid conversation.

Eg:-

"So, AIBU to wear my white wedding dress to my sisters wedding so I can at least get another wear out if it? Don't worry I will dye it cream first".

NickiFury · 22/04/2015 17:02

Grin I didn't even read the thread. A few other "So" haters too then.

Only1scoop · 22/04/2015 17:02

Also hate the 'so' ....we were out for dinner etc....

There are often a few 'anyhoo's' in those posts aswell Confused

TheIronGnome · 22/04/2015 17:05

YADNBU. Also the ones which address the audience as 'reader'. Don't know why, but I can't bear it!

squoosh · 22/04/2015 17:05

I hate the ones that start 'Come tell me all about your................steam mop/dog worming tablets etc.'

LumpenproletariatAndFearful · 22/04/2015 17:25

I hate it when people try and be amusing with the crossing out but do it totally in the wrong part, so it just ends up looking daft. Then I can't concentrate on the rest of the thread because I can't tear my eyes away from it. And it happens a lot.

For example

'I asked DP to make the lovely old and manky bed this morning.'

No. This isn't how it works. It's supposed to act as though you crossed it out and corrected yourself.

STOP USING THE CROSSING OUT AS BRACKETS.

I know I shouldn't care, but I do.

LumpenproletariatAndFearful · 22/04/2015 17:28

'I asked DP to make the old and manky lovely bed this morning.'

Ding!

ilovesooty · 22/04/2015 19:07

Not keen on the "so" either.
I don't like posts featuring "end of" or which to me says "I think I'm the cleverest person on this thread, and there's no need for any further conversation because I'm right."

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 22/04/2015 19:12

I joined discussion to agree, and also to mention the 'So' thing - but see
have been beaten to it!! Grin

Could I also mention, though, when someone makes a statement, then ends it with 'No?'

eg, 'Surely you'd wash your bedlinen in disinfectant, No?'

Grrr

ilovesooty · 22/04/2015 19:13

YY to "no"? as well. It sounds pretentious.

Trickydecision · 22/04/2015 19:20

Good try, Sparkling, but you need to incorporate a 'No?' and a gavel.

Sparklingbrook · 22/04/2015 19:29

So Ladies AIBU to think David Cameron is gorgeous- end of, no? Discuss!

Where shall I gavel? Grin

DragonWithAGirlTattoo · 22/04/2015 19:56

i cant get the hang of the 'cross through'

i dont like the 'no'? its condescending....

glad I'm not alone

OP posts:
Trickydecision · 22/04/2015 20:14

You could do a crossed out gavel before 'end of' or, in the spirit of the thread, after.
