For example, you sometimes see threads on forums which have been inactive for years suddenly resurrected.

Are people searching actively for certain topics? Then they decide to resurrect an old thread?

There's nowt as strange as folk. And the internet seems to prove that.

It just amazes me on any forum when a thread appears from 4 years ago - why would someone post on that?

Definitely not a TAAT.Oh no. You see it on other forums as well.

I've been wondering that over the last few days, some very random zombie threads have been resurected.

Toooldtobearsed · 22/04/2015 09:44

I came here through a google search. Can't for the life of me think what it was now, something to do with the dog, I think.
Anyway, a link to a post on mumsnet came up and it was a zombie thread. I did not even look at the date, just stupidly assumed it was current and was only saved from adding a post by the zombie alert.

I assume others have found MN via the same route.

I got caught out like that too Tooold.

I was desperate with a 4yo soiling himself, so it was 8 years ago. I hadn't used any other forums, found someone talking about exactly what I needed and posted without realising the date. (there was no zombie alert then)

I agree it's weird OP

But it's also weird that the threads aren't locked after a certain amount of time, so they can't be resurrected.

I think they should be left so people can read them, but if they want to discuss the subject it would be better to start a new thread. Especially if it's a few years down the line.

I think like had been mentioned a lot of people arrive via Google searches. On some forums it is bad form to start a new thread if there is already one on the subject as well so they may be going from other experiences as well.
Although sometimes you can't win if someone starts a thread on a subject that some people feel has been done to death they are told to go and search the archives there have been numerous threads on this then they are torn to shreds for resurrecting a zombie thread.
