to secretly eat DS's easter eggs...

He won't notice. He's 10 months old.

Not sure why my entire family decided to give him easter eggs but it was very sweet of them, I am not sure if a 10 month old should really be eating that much Dairy Milk! I've allowed him a few chocolate buttons but guiltily guzzling the rest myself...

How guilty should I be feeling? I'm currently feeling 8/10 on the guilt scale. Blush My family were really excited about the idea of him enjoying the chocolate... I have not recieved their blessing to eat it myself! Sad

Eat it and don't look back. Better rot your teeth than his!

GGabcd · 18/04/2015 21:55

Just eat them. Tell family he loved them. Chocolate always eases my guilt. Grin

twirlypoo · 18/04/2015 21:56

It's your motherly sacrifice for your child. You will battle the obesity, health concerns and dental woes on his behalf by eating his chocolate. You are practically a saint (or at least that's what I keep telling myself as I demolish another of ds's Easter eggs Grin)

SueGeneris · 18/04/2015 21:58

Yikes no I wouldn't give a 10 month old easter eggs or really chocolate at all. Is that over the top? I'd feel no guilt at all in your shoes . My 5 and 7 year olds got about 5 eggs each and I have had the odd nibble when getting some for them!

PrettyLittleMitty · 18/04/2015 22:00

Yabu to have any Easter eggs left! Eat them now or bad things will happen Grin

guiltynetter · 18/04/2015 22:03

I would not feel one bit guilty. he doesn't know, and he shouldn't really be having chocolate at his age anyway! or in very small amounts. eat away!

peggyundercrackers · 18/04/2015 22:04

Why feel guilty? Your ds will have literally 100s of Easter eggs given to him throughout his lifetime, he won't know any different if you eat them.

Mrscog · 18/04/2015 22:05

Yanbu, DS is 3 now and I've eaten at least 50% of his thus year. The ratio of how much he's consumed vs me has risen year on year, but there's no way he needs to eat the amount he got!

Also you're just following M&S guidelines which say no refined sugar/sweets/choc until 1.

mrsmeerkat · 18/04/2015 22:06

Yanbu .. 10 months old is far too young for eggs anyway

CoperCabana · 18/04/2015 22:07

Christ no. There is one rule of Easter Eggs as far as I am concerned and that is that parents need to eat their kids ones because they are greedy to prevent their kids becoming chocaholics!

littlepeas · 18/04/2015 22:07

Our dc are 6, 5 and 3 and dh and I still eat most of the Easter and Christmas chocolate! It all goes into a chocolate stash, which we all share, but the dc get a small piece every couple of days and dh and I eat it merrily to our hearts' content! They don't notice and they are given far too much - it lasts us ages!

Chunkymonkey79 · 18/04/2015 22:08

Yanbu

My 14 month old got about ten eggs Confused its a lovely gesture but just too young! I think some people think because its milky bar or dairy milk buttons its ok for babies!

I have given the odd button or chunk of egg but i don't really want it to become habit, so i made the ultimate sacrifice and ate most of it Grin

PuntasticUsername · 18/04/2015 22:09

You haven't eaten them already?! Dude, scarf them down right now and put an end to this pointless self-torture!

AGirlCalledBoB · 18/04/2015 22:10

God no should you feel guilty. My son (19 months) got quite a few Easter eggs and they will just not get eaten. We don't like him eating chocolate other than little bits here and there and at any rate he loves his cake. So my oh helped him eat them. I think a lot of parents of young children do the same.

WorraLiberty · 18/04/2015 22:12

YANBU at all at that age as he's too young for chocolate or to even understand.

I hate reading about parents of older kids taking their chocolate for themselves, without asking though.

hideandseekpig · 18/04/2015 22:13

Me and dh ate most of my 14 month old's! She didn't get many just a pack of 3 small milk bar shapes and 3 small smarty shapes and some buttons. I gave her 2 bags of buttons over about a 2 week period and one of the milky bar shapes after her jabs the other day. We ate the rest for her own good! She doesn't know they were there so it doesn't matter and nobody has asked us if she enjoyed them , we thanked them at the time. I don't mind her having the odd bit of chocolate but not too much in one go and they wouldn't last very long in our house Smile don't feel bad!

Flingmoo · 18/04/2015 22:13

I love you guys so much. Having MN approval is like having a huge weight lifted from my shoulders! Thanks, I will guzzle the rest guilt free.

Eat them. I am desperate to eat ds's but dh won't let me Sad. He is 4, got 8 eggs and has only eaten half of 1 so far. Its going to be a long lasting torture.

80schild · 18/04/2015 22:15

So long as you are not doing it when they are 14 years old

PesoPenguin · 18/04/2015 22:15

YANBU to eat the Easters eggs but YABU to think there's any dairy milk chocolate in the these days Sad ds's were minging this year! ( he's older (5) but only likes the extra bits like mini eggs, smarties etc)

ImNameyChangey · 18/04/2015 22:23

I eat some of DDs and she's 7! She's not bothered about chocolate and would let them rot!

steppemum · 18/04/2015 22:25

the worst thing about my kids growing up was that can't justify eating their easter eggs any more. I ate them all in first year and about half for the next 2-3 years!

Alisvolatpropiis · 18/04/2015 22:28

Yabu to even consider being guilty.

I'm rather hoping my family do the same lovely but daft thing next year when my baby will be around the same age as yours. More for meeeeee!

Morelikeguidelines · 18/04/2015 22:29

Ds is 14 months. Dh and I have eaten most of his easter eggs because it is really not something he should be having lotsb. If I just wanted chocolate I would buy chocolate but if I don't eat his I'm still not letting him eat them!

ShadowSteam · 18/04/2015 22:34

He's 10 months old.

You're doing him a favour by eating all the Easter eggs, he's far too young for an entire Easter egg. Think of it as protecting his health, not as stealing his chocolate.
