State of Neighbours house

Loandbehold · 17/04/2015 14:23

My next door neighbours are a normal, nice, professional couple. However, their house is a tip - almost like one of those from Channel 4 like 'hoarders next door' or that Kim and Aggie visit, but not quite at that level IYSWIM. My DS plays well with their DS, I try and encourage the play to be in our house or outside (if it is nice) but it is hard to avoid him being in their house from time to time. Would you find this ok? Would you worry? Or should I just ignore.

Those pictures don't look real though, it doesn't look dirty (although hard to tell as can't enlarge images) but just as if someone has piled tons more stuff on the bed for each picture.

From watching those hoarding programmes it is the filth that is the problem from discarded food, dead mice etc urgh.

You need to describe their house a bit more OP.

You can't possibly clean a 5 or 6! It'd be a struggle at 3!
And I don't see how there's room to play at 4 and above.

PeppermintCrayon · 17/04/2015 17:44

If it's filth I would report to SS personally.

TheAnswerIsYes · 17/04/2015 20:01

Oh fuck, am I your neighbour? I'm sorry, I will tidy up.

notquiteruralbliss · 17/04/2015 20:13

I'd say we are a 3 or 4 on that scale (with pockets of 5 or 6). And our leaner manages perfectly well. She's awesome.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 17/04/2015 20:19

Dunno, have they got fruit on display?

MammaTJ · 17/04/2015 20:23

Oh fuck, am I your neighbour? I'm sorry, I will tidy up.

I have rooms that are a 1 (the DCs room), one room that is off the scale (my room, the dumping ground) and the kitchen is a 3. The living room is a 5 right now.

Not dirty though and gets tidied and cleaned often enough for me. Proper tidy and thorough clean. Then it degenerates in to mess very quickly! This is because I am a student nurse who should know better and when on placement and having studying to do, it all goes downhill!

OMG Im at 2 on those pictures Shock. I thought we lived in filth Blush I want to be a 1 TBH. Id love to live in a showhome type of clean, but it aint gonna happen unless I do something about it and I just CBA. Though I have to agree that those photo's looked like stuff on top of more stuff for the sake of the picture rather than living like that. I think in reality when you get to each number, its not just the amount of clutter that grows, but also the muck and dirt. By the time it gets really bad so does the real worrying things occur like rats etc.

I love shows about hoarding because it makes me feel better about my house.

YouTheCat · 17/04/2015 20:40

On a scale of 1 (minimalistic room with a white box in the middle and nothing else) and 10 (Mr Trebus), how dirty is their house?

Oh that clutter rating has made my night!! Love it!
BF is a five. I love her to bits. She works bloody hard as does her dh and spends her weekend with her family rather than cleaning. I don't think she's seen her dining table since the nineties but it doesnt change who she is and I wouldn't change her. I couldn't deal with it myself but she's happy.

CalleighDoodle · 17/04/2015 23:58

My house has a clutter rating of two.
