To think this is a bit cheeky....

So, DSD has had a friend over (both 12 nearly 13) Friend is very sweet and welcome. Stayed Wed night and was due to go home at 6 yesterday. I had assumed her Dm/df would pick her up, so was a bit surprised when I asked if mum was coming before or after I had fed them. Imagine my surprise when she said ' oh mummy doesn't drive and daddy works overseas, I'll need a lift ð??³....anyway DSD then asked if friend could stay another night. No skin off my nose as already have 7 kids here, one more not a problem. So she stayed, but no word from mother asking me if it was ok, just text message from daughter to her asking permission. Ten minutes ago, friend announces her DM has called her and that she has to be home by 2 pm as grandparents are coming over.... Is it me ? I mean, in my shoes would you not have thought it more appropriate for her mother to call me and ask 'if I would mind' or is it convenient... I have looked after her daughter for three days and she hasn't so much as picked the bloody phone up and said hello ! Or am I being a bit old fashioned and unreasonable ? Obviously will not say anything to DSD or friend as its not their fault the mother obviously has no manners !to add to the general vent, eldest dd has borrowed the car to go have lunch with a friend, which she now has to leave early so that I can get this young lady home..

Why thank you imperial Smile

Oh well...inventing/imagining/ creating completely irrelevant intrigue has passed a couple of hours, whilst I count the minutes before I take the dsc home.. They are now bored witless and once again attempting to batter 7 bells out of each other. Theres no time to do anything before they have to be back at 6 as Woe betide me that it's not a minute before, not a minute later...ho hum ho hum ho hum 76 minutes before normal service is restored ...

76 minutes sounds like the ideal length of time to take a bath!

kittensinmydinner · 17/04/2015 19:33

Imperial you are a genius ! I did just that, ! Journey home nearly uneventful only hit each other once causing me to stop. ( but actually that was handy as I may have been 5 minutes early thus leading to flurry of indignant emails to Dh ) now home with Dh LARGE drink and 5 really civilised teenagers (dsc and dcs ) all doing their own thing... BLISS Grin

Sorry, didn't answer question, Friends dm is native to the town we are in. Daughter said she was born in local hospital (it came up as we past it) and she works in local department store, so pretty sure she is neither non native speaker or agoraphobic. But always worth consideration. I did also wonder if she had major sight impairment...which may explain the blank stare. However as daughter said she could drive, but has no car assume (hopefully) that that isn't the case....

So you took some DSC home and then had more when you got back home? Are you breeding them?!

tabulahrasa · 17/04/2015 20:30

If they're DSC then it's her DH that's breeding them, surely? Lol

dannythechampionoftheworld · 17/04/2015 20:44

She was cheeky.

You are being very nosey and presumptuous.

nappyaddict · 17/04/2015 20:56

OP friend's DH works and lives in Norway at the moment. He is not on mega money at £16 an hour but it is a hell of a lot more than unemployment benefits here. They live in a council house.

kittensinmydinner · 18/04/2015 08:53

dannythe champion ....I also agree she was extremely cheeky and rather rude. It will be interesting to see what happens in summer holiday when we have asked friend to join us on holiday.... Taking your child away for seven days will surely accord some form of parental contact.....

As for nosey - yes, completely. Hands up to that one can't help it when people do strange things or say stuff that doesn't add up..I work in that field (but directed at criminals) so sometimes off duty a bit hard to switch off the bullshit-o-meter..
