Their eyeballs tattooed?

I'm no prude, I have a few tattoos myself, all but one are clearly visible and I've had several facial and body piercings, ridiculous hairstyles/colours etc.

But I'm watching a programme and one of the men featured on it has his eyeballs tattooed completely black. How would you even be able to lie there while someone did that to you? Why would you want to?

I get tattoos- they're artwork applied to your body but I can't get my head around why someone would want black eyeballs Confused

The folk that I've known like that did have actual issues - that's probably why I formed that opinion

That's the man who was on the programme, for those who haven't watched it. I'm not criticising him at all, just trying to understand why anyone would put themselves through that.

I think it's a primal human urge, Neolithic people had tattoo's
tattood people are clearly just getting back to their roots

Nayville · 14/04/2015 23:06

He wants to be called Body Art aswell?? Confused

ShouldIworryornothelp · 14/04/2015 23:07

There's a programme on now that's just started on the same channel about extreme plastic surgery. These people seem to have more issues with body dysmorphia than the tattooed people do

suzannecanthecan · 14/04/2015 23:08

I'm sure that painful body modification rituals are just part of the human condition....our ancestors did it all the time

RedButtonhole · 14/04/2015 23:16

I can't watch people who have had loads of facial surgery, it makes me squeamish.

I know that sounds absolutely horrendous and judgemental, but it's because of the bruising, swelling and pain associated with it all. How someone wants to look doesn't bother me but looking at a badly swollen and bruised face just goes for me.

Looks awful. Mind you, in my previous job I came into contact with drug addicts who would regularly inject into their eyeballs because their veins were ruined. Imagine sticking a needle into your eye on a regular basis Sad.

RedButtonhole · 14/04/2015 23:22

Margo Sad that's desperation for you.

I would hate to tattoo somebody who wanted their eyeballs done. I'd be cringing at the thought of accidentally blinding them or something.

ParkingFred · 14/04/2015 23:24

I saw that guy on This Morning today. OMG he looked terrifying.

He was lamenting the fact that he is not taken seriously in business, what with looking utterly ludicrous and changing his name from Matthew to BodyArt. Confused

Whiskwarrior · 14/04/2015 23:26

My ex is currently working with someone who has 'fuck' and 'you' tattooed on his eyelids!

I appreciate tattoos but eyelids is very odd.

abigamarone · 14/04/2015 23:27

It's a bit different from dyeing your hair.

MyArksNotReady · 14/04/2015 23:31

Whiskwarrior, Does he wink at people?

Cooroo · 14/04/2015 23:40

A strange look. I was more freaked by the girl who cut off her boyfriend's name and posted it to him! They all seemed like nice people, but not happy. Motivated by some desperation, not just the wish to embellish themselves. I'd be happy to know them but would find it very hard if my DD took it that far (especially the split tongue!). Hope that doesn't make me shallow (have couple of tats myself but not visible)..

CookPassBabtrigde · 14/04/2015 23:56

I thought this said eyelids at first, I thought that's pretty odd, must look a little weird.
I reread and realised it's eyeballs. Actual eyeballs? As in the whites of their eyes? I've never ever heard of that, how is it even possible?! I'm not going to google it because I'm feeling a little bit queasy tonight! No fucking idea what would make anyone look in the mirror and think 'I like everything, except the whites of my eyes, they'd look better black' Confused

ILovedYouYesterday · 15/04/2015 00:10

Even if they think it looks good, and, although I don't like the look of tattoos myself, I appreciate that we are all different, and, if someone likes them, why not, but, eyes, eyes??!! argh, I'd be terrified of it causing permanent damage which would cause problems later in life. Eyesight is so precious. No, just, no!

ShadowStone · 15/04/2015 00:32

Isn't there a risk of getting blinded if you go around sticking needles in your eyes?

Not worth it. No matter how good you think it looks.
