to attend joint christening with one gift?

My friend is getting her dd christened in a few months but it will also be the christening of her cousins baby too whom I've never met.
Do I just buy a gift/card with money for the child I do know or should I at least send a card to the other child too?

Just the child you know.

When I attended a christening in similar circumstances, I took a card for the other child. Inexpensive, but shows thought.

Gifts from the godparents are traditional, gifts from anyone else not so much. I don't think it is necessary to get the other child anything, but a card is probably a nice thing to do but not necessary.

I think each set of guests just buys for the baby they know. A christening is usually part of a regular church service that anyone can attend, and vicars will line up sets of families that dont even know each other and do them en masse. It's not as if its a private event by invitation only. Even if they are having a joint party, paid for equally, I'd still only buy for the child I knew.

Just buy for the baby you know, although a card might be nice, depends if you think you'll ever see the child again.

MammaTJ · 14/04/2015 20:02

I would just buy for the child I know and get a card for the other one.

GloGirl · 14/04/2015 20:03

I would also get a card

PHANTOMnamechanger · 14/04/2015 20:04

can i just be clear - you've never even met the PARENTS of the other baby? in which case i would not even send a card. How heartfelt and meaningful can a card from a stranger be, amid those from your friends and family?

Clintons have missed a trick though not making a card saying "On the christening of your baby, with love from your cousin's mate" Wink

Do you mean that the church service will be shared or that the church service and the gathering afterwards? If it's just the church service then I wouldn't get anything, it's perfectly normal to have more than one baby christened in one service. If it's a joint gathering then I'd just get a card for the other family but I don't even the that would be necessary.

Thankyou for the replies...I've been stewing on what to do so at least I know what others would Smile

Grin Phanto
Both will be shared Blink its a private christening then a gathering afterwards. I've met the cousins husband before but I don't know them very well at all.
