Horrible things teenagers do

Ramy48 · 14/04/2015 13:33

My DC takes great delight in frightening the living daylights out of me, especially now that I'm 'old', he says it's hilarious because I'm a screamer.

I'm very squeamish so he shows me horrid pictures off the internet but without warning me, then I'll look and be sick, this he finds very amusing. Why do they do these things to dear mommy...Confused

I used to do my best to scare my mum with a big plastic spider. I knew she was arachnophobic and so was I - but the screams were so satisfying! I've now got my own DD who is very much like me. This has got me worrying...

kissmethere · 14/04/2015 13:42

Is this light hearted or are you having a problem. I really don't think its funny getting a kick out of someone who is genuinely scared , and it continues.

DoJo · 14/04/2015 13:49

Do you mean your teens actually enjoy making you vomit with these pictures? I can't tell how serious you are, but that is cruel and spiteful and I would have zero tolerance if that is what they are doing.

ladyrosy · 14/04/2015 13:50

Start showing them pictures of childbirth and dirty nappies. Be graphic about the experiences you've had, particularly with them. Tell embarrassing stories infront of their friends.

Two can play this game!

Lanaandmaria2014 · 14/04/2015 13:57

They purposefully make you throw up! that's awful, tell them to move out and rent a place of their own - or are they younger teenagers?

Mitzi50 · 14/04/2015 14:02

lady rosy Grin DS is regularly traumatised by catching glimpses of "one born every minute". I also made DC watch a rather graphic documentary on STDs which made them both go a bit green and will hopefully remember to keep the relevant bits covered.

They like to laugh at my reaction to programmes like "You've been framed" - I really don't like watching people hurting themselves so make involuntary noises of concern.

OftheTwilighttheDarkness · 14/04/2015 14:07

My Dd is a shrieker. It makes me laugh like a drain when I sneak up on her and give her a fright ( well if she will walk around with headphones in Grin.

ladyrosy · 14/04/2015 14:07

Mitzi50 hahaha love the sex education policy in your household!

I think ladies have a distinctly stronger stomach for medical/body gruesomeness, but don't fare too well with things where we have a lot of sympathy for the sufferer and they don't appear to be looked after.

Sooooo... another suggestion might be showing them videos of medical use of leeches?

Ramy48 · 14/04/2015 17:01

Kissmethere (love that name) No all a bit of fun, to DC not me, when he puts up a very graphic picture of someone having a facelift op on my laptop. It makes want to hurl just thinking about it.

I have older teens, they would never do this to me.

Hakluyt · 14/04/2015 18:05

Why would anyone do this? Sad.

But actually throwing up is a bit extreme- could you do something about it? Not saying for a moment that it's at all OK to be horrible to you......

mojo17 · 14/04/2015 18:26

Hmmmm well I think the obvious thing to do is vomit all over them!
In fact I would randomly vomit over them quite often and say. You keep getting flashbacks

Ramy48 · 15/04/2015 20:14

Mojo, what a cool idea, embarrass him for a change

OP, you hold all the aces here. You have had sex....

....with their Dad.

NOTHING will gross them out like that!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/04/2015 21:38

My teens don't do anything as bad (yet) but i have a "thing" about new shoes on a table.
DS bloody delights in this when I have to take him shoe shopping.
"I'm out of my comfort zone here" I say scrutinising the floor to ceiling shelves of training shoes in Sports Direct.
He then leaves his brand new shoes for me to find on a chair or the table

He says when he gets a house I can deliver his shopping and clean laundry but he'll have new shoes littered about (like you would with garlic to keep vampires out)

CalicoBlue · 15/04/2015 21:42

My Ds jumps out at me all the time, laughs when I scream, tickles me too.

Maybe it is their way of connecting as they feel they are too old to cuddle.
