The people in the country with rent that us subbed will be promised a discount of up to 100000 to buy this property. It's madness all over again.

This scheme is estimated by some to cost 29 billion.

There really is no point working in this country, the middle just get squeezed more by the day. Best off either never working or being rich.

We are praying the Tories win as it means we can buy this flat, sell and have around 60k to put towards new house

aka, Im alright Jack, pull up the ladderHmm

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 14/04/2015 09:42

And we aren't eligible for HA as we can "afford the rent". Ha. Yes, but we can't always afford food... especially while i was on mat leave. And the rent still bounced twice towards the end. It's a system thought up by people who don't have to live in it.

ElectraCute · 14/04/2015 09:43

And how likely do you think it is that the Tories will build another house like yours, once you've flipped your house and made your money, so that others will be able to enjoy the same, yana?

GiddyOnZackHunt · 14/04/2015 09:46

Madness.Yanbu

Corster7 · 14/04/2015 09:50

I live in HA house, tbh it is not that much different in rent wise compared to private renting but obviously it's secure.
We don't get no help with rent, husband works and I'm a carer for my disabled child.
I don't agree with them selling of the housing stock.
They should make it that all rent and mortgages are more affordable.
Also it's not just the 'middle class' that private rent, I know of loads that are being hugely subside in private accommodation.
It's not all about class, private rents can take the piss and that needs to be sorted regardless of what wage bracket your in.

chickenfuckingpox · 14/04/2015 09:54

im at a loss as to why everyone thinks being in affordable housing means we have a decent house actually the ceilings are falling down my door is more holes than door the windows are riddled with holes around them excellent in the summer not so much in the winter the kitchen is falling apart but yes i agree it is cheap and secure (apart from the door) my friend lives in a house by the same social landlord and lives next to a person with the same landlord (relevant i assure you) there are mice lots and lots of mice they will put down poison and traps in her house but not in the neighbors house where the problem is coming from they claim to be able to do nothing because the neighbors have not complained pest control have informed them its clearly coming from the neighbors property they will still not address the issue her house is being eaten to pieces but yes she too has a secure tenancy i would love to own my home she would love to own hers if she owned her home as a home owner complaining to the social landlord something would be done but as a tenant you pay your rent and you keep your roof

this is a barmy policy i would love for something to be done to bring landlords ALL landlords in line with basic needs met and with a reasonable rent mine as social housing is just under £400 pcm with two rent free fortnights a year for private £575 to £700 pcm no free weeks a year so i put on a jumper and count my blessings

Psipsina · 14/04/2015 09:55

I'm alright Jack pretty much sums up the tory mentality full stop. Congrats on becoming one of them Yana. Sad

Peanutstash10 · 14/04/2015 10:03

How about most people who earn those big salaries work long hours under extremely high pressure only for 50% to be taken off them at the end of it. Most "rich" people got rich through hard work I'm sorry if it offends people who don't earn even close to that.

26Point2Miles · 14/04/2015 10:04

I'm in a new build 5 bed HA house. £500.000! It's lovely

But I can't find anyone to swap to downsize. My dc are getting older now, one at uni, another about to move in a flat ... but nobody is eligible to swap. I'd prefer to downsize to 3/4 beds. But no luck

Others in this situation might find buying the only way to get out to a different property

Peanutstash10 · 14/04/2015 10:05

Sorry who are we all supposed to be backing here labour?? Rich people are bad rich people are scum...yawn...rich people pay your benefits just remember that.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 14/04/2015 10:07

You don't pay my benefits love. We earn far too much but I have enough common decency to think about people less fortunate.

suzannecanthecan · 14/04/2015 10:09

no, rich people are hoarding all the money

26Point2Miles · 14/04/2015 10:09

Rich people don't pay benefits?? No, we ALL do.... Any taxpayer

Psipsina · 14/04/2015 10:09

I don't think 'rich' people are scum or bad. I think there is an inequity in wages and living conditions and that the government ought to be addressing that instead of propagating it.

So, government bad, rich people just - people?

and as for rich people pay your benefits just remember that.

If this was all sorted out, there wouldn't be a need for benefits. Not anywhere near on the same scale as we have now. just like if the existing system was working properly, people wouldn't have to use food banks...

or you could start saying to those using them: 'medium/lower earners supply your food banks, remember that'.

Doesn't make it Ok that people need them, does it?

ElectraCute · 14/04/2015 10:09

Benefits? Hahahahahahhahahahhaaaaaa.

'Hardworking family' vomit here, poppet. Now if you've got nothing useful to say, run along and froth elsewhere.

Peanutstash10 · 14/04/2015 10:11

Some people see 'rich' people as anyone in a mortgaged house that works is my point. And all this thinking about people less fortunate oh for fucks sake are you telling me you don't know anyone that takes the piss out the beneifts system?

suzannecanthecan · 14/04/2015 10:14

?
Money goes to money, the more you have the easier it is to get even more.
People with money may have worked harder but their pecuniary advantage is massively disproportionate to the amount of extra effort.
Money confers power to rig the game in such a way as to serve the interests of those with money and power and preserve the status quo.

Any fool can see we don't live in a meritocracyPeanut
Clearly you are under the illusion that we do?

ElectraCute · 14/04/2015 10:14

If you want a tedious 'skivers vs strivers' thread, go and start one somewhere else.

This is not about who 'pays for" benefits (clue: everyone does). This is about a fucked-up housing system that's only going to get more fucked up if this kind of madness gets voted in on May 7th.

Arsenic · 14/04/2015 10:14

There really is no point working in this country,

How do you think these (admittedly lucky) tenants are going to secure mortgages to take the offer up? Hmm Confused

Psipsina · 14/04/2015 10:15

Erm, no, I don't know anyone that does that.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 14/04/2015 10:16

D'you know what? I don't actually think I do. Doesn't mean I don't believe it happens or that some people could try harder. But I know people who've got off benefits in the last 2 years, have become ill and lost their job and now can't get any useful benefits.
Maybe I just hang around with decent types and you don't?

BunnyFint · 14/04/2015 10:16

How about carers and nurses who work long unsocial hours under great pressure who are paid peanuts in comparison? The rich don't pay for benefits, every tax payer contributes, including those on benefits.

My god put down the pearls peanutstash.

Peanutstash10 · 14/04/2015 10:17

I know lots of dodgy benefit Dodgers. They are laughing their arses off.

ElectraCute · 14/04/2015 10:17

'All this thinking about people less fortunate'

Yeah, what twats we are, eh? Fancy understanding that things are tougher for some people than for others. Weird.

BunnyFint · 14/04/2015 10:18

This is a stupid policy, there is a housing shortage asit is, I know let's take more social housing stock and sell it at a discount. Fecking Tories.
