To say how bloody brilliant nurses are? (TW)

So a couple of weeks ago things reached boiling point and I self harmed badly. I went down to the health centre the next day to see if they could stick me back together but they decided that A&E was the best place for me.

Whilst waiting for the ambulance, two nurses stayed with me, holding my hand and stroking my back as I cried (I never cry...). There were more and more patients queuing up at reception but they stayed with me until the ambulance arrived. They also made me an appointment with the doctor for the next morning.

A&E was not good, lots of judgement and not a good experience.

The next day I went back to see them and have been going daily ever since to have it dressed. They have bent over backwards to support me and have made me feel (for the first time) that I have somewhere to go if I feel that I need to cut myself. They managed to get me an emergency psych appointment and have gone out of their way to welcome me and make me feel safe without ever judging me or scolding me.

So this is just a general THANK YOU to all the nurses out there whose compassion and lack of judgement mean the world to us.

That's lovely. I hope you continue to get support and care.

I also have to say that I have a fantastic GP. She called me as I had called for an emergency appointment as had had a seizure. Whilst on the phone I had another seizure and she had only a vague idea of where I was so got the police and paramedics out looking for me and came herself.

I had a much better experience at A&E. Staff were so kind. One held my hand whilst I had an injection in my skull. True care and compassion.

I could not fault the NHS in any way on this occasion and feel blessed to have free health care.

Glad you are on the mend.

Like all walks of life, there are some fab nurses but also some horrendous ones, sadly had experience of both. But it's good that the nice stories are shared as all too often there's a thread about an awful nurse/doctor/policeman/teavher who spoil It for the hundreds of decent people doing their jobs, and for emergency services, it can be a bloody awful job sometimes.

I so hope you continue to get that support and that there is more ongoing help after. Bless you as self harming is so devastating as a condition and you need that ongoing help. xx

I've had a couple of nurses doing their job and in the course of it helped me more than they will ever know. They were just doing their jobs, but to me, they were wonderful & amazing, when I needed care. So thank you!

I have a mum nan and auntie who are all or have been fabulous nurses. Fiercely compassionate but balls of steel too if you know what I mean! Hope you are feeling better soon xxxxx

When I got an internal laceration, from.a stupid man shoving a large object into me, I ended up in a and e, the nurse was amazing. She held my hand while I was having internals, told me off for not calling an ambulance and accompanied me when I was taken up for surgery. I will never forget the care that she gave me, I send her blessings whenever I think about what happened that night.
