to ask for this to be fixed?

I had a driveway put down and they didn't go right to my boundary line I share with neighbour - as they were laying it I did ask why it wasn't and was told they need to put down concrete for support. Fair enough. Now I noticed which I hadn't before that right by the door the brick border curves and isn't straight. Other than that the work was excellent and the guys were really lovely to be fair not some cowboys whatsoever. I just feel stupid that I didn't pick up on the curved bit - wibu to ask them to come back and fix it? Here is a picture so you can see the gap its on the right side from the grey brick to the bush.

What had they quoted you for? Do you have any record of agreed dimensions?

LilMissSunshine9 · 11/04/2015 20:38

no agreed dimensions the written quote just covered method statement. I did bring it up whilst they were laying it. I am just going to text them and see what they say - worst thing they say is no they won't come fix it.

It just look odd and I know I probably should of not let them go but as I had pointed it out earlier and was told they needed to leave the gap but now my neighbours etc. point out why they left a large gap and even I admit it just looks odd.

Definitely looks odd. Even if they just come back and concrete it over it'll be better than it just stopping.

LilMissSunshine9 · 11/04/2015 20:49

even concrete would look odd you would just think why

They need to leave a gap between two concrete slabs, it's called an expansion joint. Concrete expands and contracts in different weathers, and if you don't have a gap then it's likely both yours and your neighbours slabs could crack.

You could have a few nice topiary along it?

MrsFlannel · 11/04/2015 21:16

Isn't it for the rain?

LilMissSunshine9 · 11/04/2015 21:17

MidniteScribbler - its the other side the right side on the picture where the border of my driveway doesn't go to my boundary - the neighbours just have grass and bushes.

My plan was to put planters along that side but it means me having to either concrete the gap or do something to level it.

Fill it with gravel?

LilMissSunshine9 · 11/04/2015 21:24

yeh could do but then I'll get weeds coming through and the point of me doing the driveway was because cats and foxes pooped everywhere there was a flower bed at ground level so I wanted to get rid of it and then just pots and planters out as and when, hence why in the pic there is weed fabric down to cover the open dirt otherwise tomorrow I would wake up to some crap in it.

even if they couldn't redo it I wouldn't mind if they came back and took up the concrete they poured and straightened the top bit out so one more line of bricks could be put down as the gaps is just over one brick wide.
