I'm not trying to be snobby about cubes, they certainty have a place. But the depth of flavour is just not there compaired to something freshly made with natural ingredients right?

How often are you all having roast chicken????

I buy chicken wings and drumsticks for the dogs (raw fed). Other than that, I never have any meat on the bone. We eat meat about 2, maybe 3 times a week, so a couple of chicken breasts and about 500g mince or something like that. What am I going to make stock from?

I do occasionally make chicken soup, about twice a year when we all come down with flu - it does the trick, but the house smells vile afterwards - very much like you've been boiling bones for hours (unsurprisingly).

I buy good quality stock powder, without crap in it because it's tasty and convenient and I really don't see the advantage in making my own.

Homemade anything is probably better than instant if done well.

When juggling children, career, marriage and a household and trying to make sure they are all alive something has got to give though. Bit like ironing bedsheets, lovely but first thing to fall off an ever expanding list of things to do.
