I dropped my ds off at his friend's house tonight. He is going on holiday with them for a week.

I don't really know the parents. We have shared lifts to an extracurricular activity but that's it. The friend has been to ours lots and ds has been to theirs lots. They are lovely people and the friend is lovely. And he will have th best time ever. But he is my baby boy.He is 14!!They are going to sell him to white slavers, aren't they? He is 14!! He gets very homesick, and only started to do sleepovers without angst very recently He is 14!!

Who can tell,now pilates.

HappydaysArehere · 12/04/2015 08:44

Has he been away with his school? Did you worry then?

Hakluyt · 12/04/2015 09:15

Well, they told me they were going to Cornwall.......

Rivercam · 12/04/2015 09:19

Cornwall is lovely.

Why don't you enjoy Cornwall as well by watching every episode of Poldark. I'm sure the beautiful country scenes (and a semi-named Ross Poldark!) will soon make you feel better!

Shodan · 12/04/2015 09:35

I don't think you can be classed as a loon until you've come on to Mumsnet and started a thread about your pfb 14 year old son having to make his own way by train all the way to Scotland. By himself. All alone. With all those dangerous people everyday passengers

Not that I would do such a thing. Oh no. Grin

Hakluyt · 12/04/2015 09:41

Er, he's done that- to visit his sister. He was a week away from 14. Grin

"Why don't you enjoy Cornwall as well by watching every episode of Poldark. I'm sure the beautiful country scenes (and a semi-named Ross Poldark!) will soon make you feel better!"

Now that will take your mind of him Smile

Shodan · 12/04/2015 09:54

Well there you go then.

Not a loon.

And your son probably won't have been kidnapped/sent down the mines/used as a human anchor/used as pasty filling/taken away by piskies to build their piskie castle (they can't reach high enough to make turrets).

And they haven't texted because the reception is bad. Not probably because they're making your ds open the seal to the underworld, thus enabling all the demons from all the demon worlds to take over the Earth. been watching too much Buffy

Hakluyt · 12/04/2015 09:55

"Now that will take your mind of him smile"

Unless it just makes me imagine him forced to work down a tin mine............

OP posts:
Hakluyt · 12/04/2015 09:56

OMG shodan- you thought of mines too- it must be true.............

Shodan · 12/04/2015 10:00

Ah but I'm a loon. (As already established). You can't take what I say seriously. (Mostly)

Andrewofgg · 12/04/2015 10:02

Loons are lovely people, I should know, I see one in the mirror . . . Enjoy!

SanityClause · 12/04/2015 10:17

Mining?

I have ancestors who were Cornish tin miners.

Of course, they realised that gold mining in Australia would be much more lucrative.

Roussette · 12/04/2015 10:18

If it's any consolation, when I take other people's children on holiday I take three times the care of them than I do of my own Grin. It's such a responsibility remembering 15yo friend of DD's abroad with us, blimey she was a nightmare, unlike your son
Enjoy your time off Hakluyt Smile

Hakluyt · 14/04/2015 00:02

I had a text today.

It said "3G in Padstow" I replied "how's it going?" He said "Just got here"

That is the sum total of the communication. Grin I suppose it could be code..............

GerundTheBehemoth · 17/04/2015 09:03

Loons are brilliant parents Grin

cozietoesie · 17/04/2015 09:10

Cornwall is actually a hotbed of slaving and other such things you know - all that coastline where you can get small boats in to pick up the goods.

OinkBalloon · 18/04/2015 12:09

I think the slavers got him, and Hak went to the rescue, but now they've silenced her, too!
