Fucking Chuggers!

I know they have got to make a living. But come on surely 20 past 8 on the night is unreasonable to knock to ask me if I'd like to talk about the NSPCC? I have two young children who had just gone to sleep so I was a bit short with her. Didn't shout or swear just said my children have just gone to sleep go away Blush

But AIBU to think they shouldn't knock at this time?

IMO we should never give money to chuggers. It would put charities off using them.

And then there's the fact that some of them are not even collecting for genuine charities.

"Your neighbours have been very generous" incites rage in my very core. I live on a council estate, very few homes are owner occupied. These people come three times a week and that bloody line is one of the first things out of their mouths. Either they're lying to my face, or the fact that my neighbours all give generously to every charity who come round is the reason they don't own their houses. If they catch me at a bad time and use that line they get 'the rant' though generally I manage to say some polite and apologetic variant of "my parents aren't home, sorry" whilst closing the door, being 25 and looking 15 has it's perks at times!

If someone stops me or knocks I just say that my dh doesn't is in charge of money and I'm not allowed access to bank accounts! Grin Obviously not true!

I have a sign and it worked perfectly for the first few years but just recently I've had two cold callers (one a paving company and one a charity). At least with the sign I can just glare and point at the sign.

What happens if a chugger falls and hurts themselves on your property?

Can they sue? What if you have a 'No Chugging' sign?

And can we sue them for churgling? And if you have a sticker saying 'Please Feck Off' or similar is it harassment if they knock?

While driving through Fleet I see whole neighbourhoods with "No Cold Calling Zone" signs on lamp posts. I wonder if that works?
