AIBU to take kids to the pub

Don't get me wrong we go to the pub loads. Considering taking them for a drink tonight in a lovely little pub with a beer garden. It is around 19'c at themoment. Its only April though so feels way to early in the year for loafing in beer gardens!

in most pubs in London kids are not allowed INSIDE after 6 pm. It might be different in outdoor places.

I see pubs as a social place and find it sad that kids are excluded from them. As mentioned before this is not the case in France or Spain.

I am genuinely baffled a to why the OP needed to ask this question?? Hmm

i thought the thread was a bit of fun, that's all. Is it all deadly serious in AIBU? Confused

sparkling yes it was just a bit of fun - if you'd have all said I wbu we'd have still gone :-) glad I've inspired a couple of other posters to do the same, lovely weather we're having!

Depends entirely on the pub. For example in my area, one pub has a playground and play area, food all day including kids menu. Clearly ok as anyone going there could see its geared up for families.
Another has no garden, a smoking patio, dim lights, rock music and art/retro decor that could be broken. Though kids are permitted, to me that's clearly somewhere for adults.

...guess which one is more fun for grown ups Grin .

RedToothBrush · 10/04/2015 15:41

squizita, i'd say a sign that says "children welcome" is also quite a big clue.

squizita · 10/04/2015 15:53

Red the 2nd pub has a small sign saying "permitted" before 7pm. Wink Never seen any kids bar a sleeping baby at lunchtime once.

karmagetsyou · 10/04/2015 15:54

Go go go ......!!

RedToothBrush · 10/04/2015 16:25

permitted is a bit different to welcome though isn't it?

squizita · 10/04/2015 17:55

My point exactly Red. Smile I'm just glad I live near the both of them: I've got all bases covered.

geekymommy I am in the New England and we have pubs with slides and swings. I'm not sure I could have moved to the US otherwise :-)

Glad you had a great time! Our local 'beach bar' opens in the city tomorrow. They set up for spring and summer, build the whole thing out of temp structures and truck in the sand. Heaps of kids rolling around using the provided toys and happy parents enjoying a pint and bare feet. Can't wait!
