To ask how much you pay for fun football classes for a 3 year old

They seem very pricey. Don't mind paying it as long as I'm not getting ripped off.

£30+ for 10 here. I also don't find this cheap. Must be mad.

Suefla62 · 08/04/2015 00:32

Why on earth does a 3 year old need football classes. Take them and a ball to the park.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/04/2015 00:59

Jumpers for goalposts, Sue? Some of us Shock take their kids to the park AND have lessons. No family support, very active kid.

I pay an eye-watering amount but I'm in Canada so less choice.

mawbroon · 08/04/2015 01:09

Ours is £16 per month on direct debit so £4 ish for a 50 min class.

I don't know where you live Suefla62 but where I live it is pishing rain and fucking freezing all winter. Sometimes the park is more like a form of punishment than any fun.

Now the weather is nice, they get chucked outside to play football, but they still go to their wee classes because they love it.

Suefla62 · 08/04/2015 01:09

For goodness sake they're three! Let them be babies for a little while. At three the classes are for your benefit not theirs.

mawbroon · 08/04/2015 01:15

I disagree. DS2 is 4 years younger than his big brother and he was desperate to turn 3 so he could play footie like his brother.

He loved it, still does and he's 5yo now. And I get a chance to sit down and have a cup of tea and a blether with the other mums.

Win win IMO.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/04/2015 02:01

At three the classes are for your benefit not theirs. Abso-fricking-lutely. And the problem with that is... DD has loved her sport classes since she was just three. Loves Coach Becky. Loves her ribbons. I love an hour of sitting.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/04/2015 02:10

DS2 does Little Kickers in Australia. He's 2.6. He loves it to bits, has been watching his big brother and itching to get going.

At 3 (or even 2.6) the classes are not about football or whatever - they're about learning group activities, learning to pay attention, learning to listen to instructions, learning discipline and co-ordination. Far more than "just football" (or whatever).

It's a bit expensive but fuckit, he has a great time and it's giving him good grounding for later! DS1 has excellent football skills, he just needs work on his field skills now but that won't take long.

We pay 40 for my 4 year old's rugby - half before Christmas, half after. For the amount he's benefited from going, it's worth twice that. or more. They don't play rugby at this age, just ball handling, games to build skills and teamwork etc. Well worth it.

NorksWar · 08/04/2015 06:01

We pay £4 per class plus a £16 annual fee.

laracroft2001 · 08/04/2015 06:01

I pay £90 for 12 weeks with Little Kickers and he does magic football at his nursery which is £30 for 10. He has done them both since around 2yo and he loves them and has his little friends at both.

As previous poster said, it's not about football skill necessarily, but learning to take instruction, wait turns, listen to coach and so on (although there are parents who just let their kids run wild)

And for what it's worth,my DS spends most of his spare time kicking a ball around whether that be in the house or at the park!

ASAS · 08/04/2015 07:08

Ha ha, mumsnet at it's best. Sue, good one, but I think you meant to type £0.

Chchchchanging · 08/04/2015 07:12

We do rugby it's £6 class 40 min and brilliant- listening, group work, sharing and learning about winning or not- age appropriately but most of all confidence boosting
Few there is a kid there who is 2 and I'm sure a future rugby star, he has natural skill speed and talent!!
