TenerifeSea · 07/04/2015 22:04

I misread the title as 'dentistry office' and thought you were a fecking loon. Grin

AdeleDazeem · 07/04/2015 22:15

Another one here who did it! YANBU, congratulations and enjoy your wedding. Flowers

GinBunny · 07/04/2015 22:16

I dressed down for my RO wedding and 10 years on wish I'd worn something a bit more glam. Go for it Grin

LadyGlen · 07/04/2015 22:27

YANBU. Definitely go for it.

I wanted to and my mum told me that my grandma didn't approve of 'proper' wedding dresses in the registry office - so I caved in and wore a suit. It was lovely suit.
But it was my one and only chance to wear a wedding dress and I didn't. I've always regretted it.

Have a wonderful wedding. Flowers

ZombieJenna · 07/04/2015 22:33

Do it! Wear whatever you want and enjoy your day!

I'm getting married in the local registry office in 2 months and I've got a fantastic medieval style gown. I was starting to worry that it was over the top for the venue until I tried it on. Once I saw myself in it I didn't care about the venue any more, I just felt like a million dollars in it Grin

Silverdaisy · 07/04/2015 22:35

Do what you fancy. Most registry offices are in nice locations. In my town the the register was under the multi story car park, so I probably wouldn't have in that situation. Quite a grim place.

msgrinch · 07/04/2015 22:36

I work in a bridal shop. We have many brides buying dresses like that for registry office weddings! Go for it! Try loads on and maybe even try a few bridesmaid styles as they can be ordered in ivory. Have fun with it, venue means nothing. Grin congratulations x

WandaFuca · 07/04/2015 22:37

Times are long gone when registry office weddings were regarded as "second-class". In my home town, the registry office has recently moved from a lovely old building to an even lovelier and even older building, all refurbished to be a gorgeous venue. So that's a registry office that deserves a big white wedding dress.

Dressing simply, or even in jeans, is good, as well.

Thank goodness that these days it's more about individual choice rather than convention.

takemeuptheeiffeltower · 07/04/2015 22:39

Do it, you will look amazing!
The weddings I don't get, are weddings where a big meringue dress is worn on the beach!
Beaches are for bikinis !Shock
(but that's just one view)

Hey, your wedding day! Who cares if anyone thinks it's out of place or not? If you don't, it isn't! Have a wonderful day.

sweetkitty · 08/04/2015 05:41

I got married in a Registery office 2 weeks ago, I wore a white wedding dress, not a big dress but fitted, tiara, white shoes and had a bouquet, I think I looked fab. Go for it its your day x

nemo81 · 08/04/2015 05:45

PrincessOfChina · 08/04/2015 08:50

I had a big dress. So big in fact I could barely sit down in the register office chairs.

InThisTogether · 08/04/2015 08:55

do it, I am. this post has made me a little anxious actually, hadn't considered that i shouldn't. :)

fluffymouse · 08/04/2015 09:53

Wear whatever you like but do try on a variety of dress styles before deciding as they look completely different on.

badtime · 08/04/2015 10:05

LadyGlen, maybe you could have a vow renewal with a big dress? Any big anniversaries coming up?

Foreverlurking · 08/04/2015 10:25

You do you! :)

60sname · 08/04/2015 14:25
