To think that Cinderella is a poor choice to put Frozen Fever on with?

Surely there a huge numbers of pre-schoolers/toddlers who are obsessed with Frozen and desperate to see the new short, Frozen Fever, but for whom the new live action Cinderella film is way too old?

My 9 year old enjoyed both (she went with a friend), but my 6 and 4 year olds both say they don't want to see Cinderella (having seen a trailer) - I haven't told them about Frozen Fever being on with it. So my choices are: pay cinema prices to go and see a 10 minute film then leave, make them sit through a film that is too old for them, or wait until Christmas for it to come out on DVD?!!

Surely it's not just me?

Well, I'm not saying Frozen Fever IS online but I am saying you have more than those two options to see it...

WhispersOfWickedness · 11/04/2015 07:53

Cinderella is suitable for little ones! I took my 5 and 3 year olds who loved it. The three year old got a little restless at one point, but then she always does during feature length films, so in that sense it wouldn't have mattered which film Frozen Fever was put with Confused
The parent's deaths were two of the least traumatic that I have seen in a disney film, the parent's deaths in Frozen were much worse!

IT IS a U, I went to see it with my 9 year old. I would say a lot of it, whilst not unsuitable for younger ones, would just not interest them or go over their heads. There's nothing amusing, no action and too much sophisticated language to appeal to them.

LayMeDown · 11/04/2015 08:02

I'm surprised so many people had little ones that sat through Cinderella. I saw it with my 8 year old but didn't bring the 6 and 3 year old. I'm glad I didn't there is no way they would have sat through it. The youngest will only sit through animated ones and 6 year old would have found it dull (I did myself if I'm honest). But then he thinks anything without a light saver is lame.

All disneys heroines are orphans, why is that?

CheshireCait · 11/04/2015 08:10

YANBU.

My DD is nearly 5 and just about managed to get through Cinderella, though she was a bit restless towards the end. She doesn't really like live action yet. She was a little worried by the deaths of three parents of the main characters and told me at the end that 'parents die quickly', so we had to have a chat about that. With hindsight it wasn't a great way for her to spend two hours.

She ADORED Frozen Fever though.

If you haven't seen it- how do you know Cinderella would be too old. I went with dd6 and she loved it. It was very engaging and funny. Nothing scary in it at all. I've seen that new Tinkerbell movie and that was more scary than Cinderella.

For the people saying that you have to go through the action of Cinderella' s parents dying, the parents die at the beginning of Frozen too. I bawled like I've never bawled before at The Lion King, Bambi and to this day I cannot watch Dumbo.

Of course Yabu. You gave yourself three options in your opening paragraph. Choose one of them.

CalleighDoodle · 11/04/2015 20:49

Yes my three yr old son was scared watching tinkerbell

Allisgood1 · 11/04/2015 20:55

YABU.

My 3 year old sat through the movie quite happily (although the frozen clip was the hilight for her!). I don't think Cinderella is meant for the older kids, it's very enchanting for the younger ones too.

Vickisuli · 12/04/2015 20:40

IMDB and Common Sense media both say its PG

www.imdb.com/title/tt1661199/
www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/cinderella-2015

but maybe that's America? and common sense media's age recommendation is 6 years plus.

I'm not trying to stop anyone seeing at all. Don't know where you got that from. I will probably take mine to see it too. I'm only cross because I know mine would like to see Frozen but not Cinderella and wish it was possible to watch it in some other way.

Well I posted a snapshot of the U certificate on the BBFC website above.

sleepylittlebunnies · 12/04/2015 22:03

I took dd1 aged 5 and dd2 just turned 3, they were very excited about going to see Cinderella. They both enjoy live action films and loved it. DD1's best friend's mum is dying of cancer so we have talked about death a lot lately and both know the story of Cinderella so it was not a shock to them and the death was a lovely peaceful one. They enjoyed the short frozen film but the highlight was definitely Cinderella.

It was also the first Cinderella I have seen where the 'ugly' sisters and step mother were attractive looking. It was a good message for children that people's looks don't necessarily match their character.

MangoJuggler · 12/04/2015 22:37

I went to see Cinderella today. It is a U. All the fellows had weirdy smooth trooserfronts like Buzz Lightyear, I looked so you don't have to [grin ]

Frozen Fever was utter rubbish, terribly disappointed Blush

Just want to ask you a couple of questions for your opinions about cinderella

NoelEdmondsHighFlyingTurds · 17/07/2015 14:03

It's a poor combo in that it's another annoying blonde bint with an improbably tiny waist mooning about the place in a blue dress.

Disappointing work from Sir Ken, I'd say.
