to ask you about Northamptonshire?

I'm posting here for traffic really.
We are looking at houses in Northamptonshire, first looked briefly at Northampton, but then moved on to Kettering and Wellingborough area.
Now I find that Desborough has got even cheaper property prices, but I guess there must be a reason?

We don't know anyone from the area and you can't really trust the estate agents or the vendors as they want to make a sale so might not be too forthcoming about what it's really like.

So if anyone knows this area please tell me what are the nicer parts what are the areas to avoid if any.

So far we have really liked Mawsley next to Kettering, so based on that we like a fairly recent development (around 10 years old) that's quiet and peaceful and great for young kids to make friends and go to the same school etc. Also needs to be not totally isolated, DH will be commuting to London.

I'm in Earls Barton, a large village between northamton and Wellingborough and we love it. It's more like a old country small town, and there is lots of new builds going up at the moment.
Don't know much about Des-Vegas, but northamptonshire in General is really lovely - Particularly villages out to the South, Boughton, The Bramptons, Moulton etc but I think they may be too far out for train links.
Good luck with your search!

We're wootton, Northants and love it. Right next to the M1 and some new builds being built at the moment. Good schools too.

I'm from Rushden / Higham Ferrers but now in Rugby area ... I'd second the using the West Coast Mainline from Rugby for quick / easy London commute. West Haddon, Yelvertoft, Swinford all lovely and an easy drive into Rugby.

Thank you all so much for the replies!
I will be checking out those villages that have been mentioned.
Desborough is now definitely out, incinerator doesn't sound that appealing...

We also thought Rugby was a bit too far for commuting, but now might be worth checking it out too

I live on the cambs, northants border. I'd second the pretty villages. Love Oundle. Good schools in area as well.
