I enjoy reading books like 50 Shades of Grey. What helps you get in the mood?

I hear so much negative press about 50 Shades etc. but I tend to think the people who are so anti these books should relax and enjoy them for what they are. They are great for taking your mind off the day to day stresses and making you feel like a bit of love making!

Shit truely I am WORK! How am I going explain that to IT!

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 07/04/2015 12:31

People dislike 50 Shades of Grey because it's badly written and is about an abusive relationship. Doesn't mean those same people hate all erotic fiction. So your posts make little sense.

Great link truly
Luckily I'm in the house on my own and have a good while before everyone returns...

ghostyslovesheep · 07/04/2015 12:51

Truly that link made my knees go weak

TrulyTurtles · 07/04/2015 12:52

I got confused then, did I post a link as steamy as that phew.

UnsolvedMystery · 07/04/2015 15:18

I love erotica
I hate badly written stories about abusive relationships

SaucyJack · 07/04/2015 15:22

The Argos catalogue does it for me. Just something about shelving combinations that makes me come over all fruity.

Same!

I was reading the first draft of my novel on my Kindle last night and a sex scene got me in the mood, I was very proud of myself Grin

SolidGoldBrass · 07/04/2015 15:36

Ooer, can I use this thread to recommend some good erotica to you all? I write the stuff and have stories in a few anthologies that should cover most people's, er, bases...

BaronessBomburst · 07/04/2015 15:41

Do the Haynes manuels come in kindle format?
Just idly wondering. I mean, I wouldn't read them myself. I'm a respectable married woman.

UnsolvedMystery · 07/04/2015 16:25

SGB, I'd read your stories.
I'm willing to guess there's no inner goddess, bottom lip biting or talk of 'down there'

Dawndonnaagain · 07/04/2015 16:33

could be a tad dodgy

fairnotfit · 07/04/2015 16:54

Baroness - I only buy Haynes Manuals in digital form... it allows me to read them on the Tube without embarrassing myself or others.

Dawndonna - that is proper hardcore stuff. I'm surprised at you.

GoooRooo · 07/04/2015 16:57

So surprised no one has already mentioned dinosaur erotica. How can you fail to be turned on by this?

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 07/04/2015 19:23

Gooo I mentioned 'Knocked Up Dino Romp' earlier Grin beat ya to it.

Bearfrills · 07/04/2015 19:44

So many book recommendations on here, DH won't believe his luck when I suggest we put the DC to bed early and get down to some reading.

SolidGoldBrass · 07/04/2015 19:50

OK, for anyone who actually wants to read some erotic fiction, here's a short selection. These are all anthologies and yeah, I have a story in each one, but they also contain stories by other authors.

This one is summer holiday/seaside themed stuff and the stories are generally at the slightly more romantic end of the spectrum.

More plot in this one, which is about 'spies and detectives' who happen to have a lot of sex.

BDSM with women on top If anyone would prefer BDSM with dominant men, I can link one or two other anthologies...

Steampunk smut! Just because this is one of my favourites, even if it is a bit niche.

Also if you like I can give details of my novel about sex and Morris dancers...

BaronessBomburst · 07/04/2015 20:56

Well, it all goes on in those quiet English villages, you know!

RoboticSealpup · 07/04/2015 21:28

I don't understand why the male love interest in "women's romance novels" always have to be some rich twat. Confused

wickedlazy · 07/04/2015 21:35

I just don't like authors writing style. She is so repetitive and Anna's "inner goddess" annoys me.

I do like a bit of Jackie Collins though. The stud and the bitch in particular. The stud iirc (it could have been a different Jackie Collins) has a bit where one of the characters is taken up against a tree while working in Africa, by a muscular black stranger with a huge cock. Turned me on the first time I read it, thankfully in the bath, as I had easy and near instant access to the shower head Grin I think I recall a very sexy elevator scene too.

wickedlazy · 07/04/2015 21:36

*The author meaning EL James

33goingon64 · 07/04/2015 21:38

Nancy Friday's books used to do it for me.

elQuintoConyo · 07/04/2015 21:41

I was very angry with JC for taking a private conversation of ours and putting it in her book wickedlazy, rather like Maggie Smith's friend in A Room With A View Blush

Moanranger · 07/04/2015 21:42

Best erotica is Anais Nin, esp Delta of Venus. DP & I indulge regularly.

elQuintoConyo · 07/04/2015 21:43

I find Wind in the Willows good for a bit of gusset typing - oooooh, Ratty!
