Mash or cut up.

DH disagrees. He thinks we should just make it with sausages, dumplings and a side of veg.

I got my own way

I am in the midst of making sausage casserole and shall be serving it with couscous :) I agree you need something non casseroley on the side to soak up the juice.

Liking these ideas! When this baby comes I am going to have sausage casserole with suet (yes) dumplings, yorkshire pud, mash and massive hunk of bread. And no one is going to stop me.

CobbOnn · 06/04/2015 17:43

C ant get sausage casserole and yorkshire pud out of my head. Can't believe I never thought of it before

Hairy Bikers sausage casserole Best thing ever. You can thank me later. No potatoes necessary, but a chunk of bread for the gravy is an excellent optional extra.

(I double the quantity of beans- I think it makes it even better)

Hakluyt · 06/04/2015 17:53

Longestlurkerever- why can't you have it now?

bruffin · 06/04/2015 17:57

Yesterday served it in a giant yorkshire and sweetpotato/potato mash

sideshowbob2 · 06/04/2015 17:58

i always have my sausage casserole with basmati rice and broccoli!! delicious!

mumeeee · 06/04/2015 18:00

You don't need potatoes with sausage casserole. Dumplings are fine. I have served it with rice or pasta. Non of my family are that keen on potatoes

wowfudge · 06/04/2015 18:04

Suet dumplings - yum. That's got me thinking of suet crust on meat and potato pie......

We always have butter beans in ours, with a side of chunky bread if we're particularly hungry :)

JigsawsAreAllLittlePieces · 06/04/2015 18:09

Mash with casserole - yum. :)

Mash, Dumplings and casserole - yum but I then look like I'm having a food baby for hours.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 06/04/2015 18:12

Mmm, sausage casserole... I make mine with beans and beef suet dumplings, eight enormous fluffy ones. No need for potatoes. So there! Wink

fredfredgeorgejnr · 06/04/2015 19:36

Dumplings trump the potatoes... but dumplings are gross so you should have potatoes.

Way too sunny today for anything similar though anyway, get the burgers on the bbq.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 06/04/2015 19:38

Mash, definitely.

Dammit, have already done my meal plan and shop for the week - REALLY want sausage casserole now

ohtheholidays · 06/04/2015 19:41

Always mash with sausage casserole, that's what all the lovely sauce in the casserole is for,so you can mop it all up with your mashed potatoes. Grin
