Blimey, people on MN are only happy when bitching about how other people live! Cake at easter has always been a 'thing' or have you never heard of simnel cake? Even I used to make little chocolate crispie 'nests' when I was little and I'm ancient.

Seriously, you need to ask yourselves why you get so irritated by the way other people live their lives. If you don't like their fb posts unfollow them!!

We don't buy eggs, have a special lunch or do anything else for Easter. We don't really do xmas either.

Yes, it's become almost a mini Christmas to some people. Easter presents, money, and you can even get Easter crackers. Easter crackers! The world has gone bonkers.

Apparently friend of a friend, and their group, was discussing which Disney character costumes they'd bought for today for their children. Now I had no idea that was a thing Confused

I bought DD a set of books for Easter as I'd rather she has them than an egg. She will get enough of those from other people. To be fair, I would have bought them anyway. She's decorated a bonnet that was bought from the pound shop and we've made a cake. Later we will meet family for a roast Lamb dinner where her gran will give her a present (some clothes) and I'll give my DNs a card with money in. It'll only be a fiver. I'd rather do that than more chocolate. I gave my other nephew a book.

I don't see the harm in giving alternative gifts than chocolate eggs and as always you should only give what you can afford. I do see that over time Easter may escalate into another massive festival of consumerism but I'm happy with our levels of gift giving Easter Smile
