I'm up at 3 am feeding and with nothing better to do I'm scrolling through Facebook.

There are dozens of pictures captioned "the easter bunny has been" with a mound of toys, chocolate, money and wrapped presents, one picture even had a new bike!

now I'm not the most religious person but I come from a religious family and at easter we got an egg and a new outfit for church.

when did the easter bunny start comparing himself to santa? The tooth fairy will be exchanging teeth for cars soon ....

am I a tight mother or are these a select few?

As a joke someone posted a picture of four mini eggs and said "Eggs all ready for my babies tomorrow" and some woman came along calling the woman a disgrace, a crap mum and saying every other picture she'd seen people had made an effort and she should be ashamed of herself. It's scary to think these people are actually raising human beings!

Another woman posted pic of her empty fridge and said "at least my children got Easter eggs Sad"

Hmm

Ridiculous. Eggs have fuck all to do with the Christian Easter anyway. They're a pagan symbol!

Idontseeanydragons · 05/04/2015 12:37

MIL always gives the grandchildren some holiday clothes which is a nice tradition that's been going on in their family for the last few generations. They get a couple of eggs each and we always go out for an Easter meal but that's it.
My FB is shockingly boringly normal today!

MsAspreyDiamonds · 05/04/2015 13:38

They had loads of eggs in Sainsburys Teenagenightmares, they were restocking from giant pallets at 4pm yesterday so I doubt they would have sold out by tomorrow as they are closed today.

It makes me feel ancient. I'm only early 30's. When I was young we didn't do anything at Easter except eat fish on Good Friday and get Easter eggs. These were put out as I was given them from various relatives and ok to be opened starting the Friday as there were a few. Couldn't have more than one per day but obviously that's still loads. It was the 80's though. I was unusual amongst my friends, in having so many. They would get one or two. Mine were from relatives who lived away and older siblings.

We probably had a roast. That was it. No Easter bunny, no egg hunts, no new clothes, no massive family dinners, no presents, no Easter tree or decorations. Just chocolate.

Sucha that's sounds like a lovely thing to be able to share together. Hope you're all having a great day Easter Smile

Ooh and we also got some dyed eggs from my Nanna and rolled them on Monday. I quite like that tradition.

Ds heard about the Easter bunny at school and came home needing reassurance that he wouldn't be visiting our house. The idea of the tooth fairy also scares him for some reason. He's relying on the cat to catch any rogue fairies or bunnies that try and leave him treats in the middle of the night.

Putthatonyourneedles · 05/04/2015 15:03

11yo and 2yo got a chocolate hen from lidls each and a DVD fecking frozen 4month old got a lamaze toy.

The pictures on my Facebook feed have been awful. But it's the same every new year, Valentine's day,Easter, summer holidays, Halloween and Christmas. Everyone posts these huge celebrations with spectacular gifts and complete over the top decorations.

Coumarin · 05/04/2015 18:14

Pourquoi Don't blame him. A giant man sized bunny hopping into the garden would terrify me.

Suchafunnystory · 05/04/2015 20:23

Thank you coumarin

We have had a splendid day and DD announced earlier that "this Easter is the best ever!"
