To think what you look like in politics really shouldn't matter?

I'm not necessarily a labour voter, but I've just been a bit shocked at the outpouring of people who I've heard say they wouldn't vote for Ed Milliband simply because of his looks. I mean seriously? The last time I checked I voted because of a parties principals, not because of what the leader looked like. I mean there have been some incredible world leaders who wouldn't of made the cat walks, equally I can't ever see a super model in number 10? What's wrong with people?

YANBU but although his looks get 'blamed' for his lack of electability - I think it's more than just his looks. He has a bit of the Gordon Brown factor imo - sounds unnatural, stilted, scripted and awkward. He doesn't speak with conviction somehow. I think if he looked as he does, but had an air of confidence and calmness, then his looks wouldn't be commented on as much (if at all). As it is, he comes across as desperate and willing to say/do anything that his people decide will help his 'image'.

I think his looks are commented on to discredit him. The press are overwhelmingly Tory and want us to overlook his intelligence. Confidence has nothing to do with it!
mali you think it's Labour who only do what's best for anyone but themselves ? Really? Mind:blown

Ed a Milliband has certainly improved his performance of late and appears to have got the hang of projecting himself.

Cardibach, I don't trust anyone of them no, I've been screwed by them and the Tories in the last decades but I was commenting about Miliband since he's the only one that looks soulless to me and it's looks influencing that the OP is talking about.

The others all just look like satisfied fat cats which is pretty standard for most politicians: they all do what suits themselves regardless of party.
